Summary
The Teacher Aide is responsible for the care, supervision, and safety of center children. Assist staff in planning and implementing age appropriate curriculum. Must demonstrate compassion and understanding for the needs of children and families from economically and culturally diverse backgrounds. Must learn, implement and follow all program policies and procedures. Responsible for learning and implementing developmentally appropriate practices for young children. Responsible for keeping classroom and playground clean, safe, and orderly.
Duties
Have the physical stamina to actively engage and interact with infant/toddler, preschool, and school age children for up to 8 hours per day; e.g. to move and react quickly to ensure the safety of the children, to lift and/or carry a child as needed, to sit on the floor or use child size furniture, and participate in field trips and playground activities.
Work as scheduled; daily attendance and punctuality are required.
Assist, when needed, at other Little Learners Early Education centers.
Handle crisis/emergencies in a professional manner.
Exercise confidentiality.
Follow directions.
Prioritize tasks
Be a positive, contributing member of a team.
Read, write, and perform basic math skills.
Submit evidence of ongoing course work to CT Charts-A-Course (CCAC) ), including working toward a CDA and 12 credits in ECE
Assist in achieving and maintaining NAEYC accreditation standards.
Learn and implement appropriate program discipline techniques.
Adhere to TVCCA policies and procedures.
In collaborative classrooms (HS and LL), become familiar with the CLASS assessment tool and understand the Teacher Aide's role in maintaining scores at or above the Head Start National Averages.
Under the guidance of the Head Teacher, complete formal and informal observations of the children.
Have the necessary computer skills to input information into a database system and assist with preparing classroom newsletters.
Learn and implement practices that are appropriate for children's developmental level.
