Radiology Associates is seeking a PRN Radiologic Technologist to work in our Orange Park Imaging location.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for performing a variety of radiologic procedures.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Center Manager, monthly QC reporting reviewed with Lead Technologist
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greet patient and provides instructions on procedures.
- Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
- Perform a variety of tasks involved in operating x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated anatomical areas of interest. Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines.
- Monitor accessory equipment and assist the physician with fluoroscopic procedures, special radiographic procedures, and bone density exams (DEXA).
- Prepare and dispense contrast media and barium.
- Ensure equipment is in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
- Evaluate studies for technical quality, collate processed images in proper order and appropriately label. Process related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
- Follow safety standards and use radiation protection when operating imaging equipment.
- Provide orientation and training to new technologists. Provide education and training to student technologists.
- Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families for all studies.
The radiologic tech must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the position.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one-year experience in radiologic imaging is preferred; however, new graduates are still encouraged to apply, and will be considered for open positions.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURE: Licensed in the State of Florida and ARRT certification in Radiography (RT(R)). BLS Certification.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Proficiency with X-ray, Fluoroscopy, and Bone Density procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Experience with the use, QA, and troubleshooting of various types of radiologic equipment.
- Radiation safety and protection requirements for staff, patients and visitors.
- Ability to use computer and network systems for processing and submitting images for interpretation by radiologist.
- Emergency response: knowledge of AED function, crash cart location and oxygen tank usage. Ability to respond to allergic reactions or untoward medical event with calm demeanor and proficiency.
ABILITIES:
- Ability to work in a cooperative nature within and outside department with staff, patients and families.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to explain procedures clearly and simply to patients.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires full body motion. Must be able to lift/carry/move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires positioning of patients. Requires 20/20 correctable vision.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Medical office, exam and treatment rooms. Exposure to radiation and communicable diseases. Work location may be variable.
