Injection Mold Technician (machine set-up)

Our client, a plastic fabrication leader in product protection, masking, hose protection, and custom molded components, is currently seeking an Injection Mold Technician in Buffalo, NY. They offer a broad line of connector parts in the medical, automotive, and aviation industries to keep electrical ports and components protected from contaminants, moisture, or impacts that can damage delicate connections during shipping or storage. This person would be responsible for installing and removing molds, troubleshooting, and molding machine startups to prescribed production standards, and performing inspections.

Job Details:

Job-type: Permanent/Direct Hire

Pay range: $50000 - $52000 annually

Shift: 12-hr shifts, Overnight shift.

Week one: Work 7pm-7am Monday and Tuesday. Off Wednesday and Thursday. Work 7pm-7am Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Week two: Off Monday and Tuesday, Work 7pm-7am Wednesday and Thursday, Off Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Repeat week one.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Verify product quality from the onset of a production run by following the first-piece inspection procedure on all new start-ups.

Responsible for troubleshooting machine problems as identified by the machine inspector/operator and adjusting machine parameters.

Safely and efficiently handle the installation and removal of full molds and plates in injection molding machinery. Operate molding machinery, electronic scales, and various measuring instruments safely and efficiently.

Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of parts, updating logs to guarantee the quality of the final product. Implement various process improvement procedures, such as purging cylinders, reheating machines, and reducing scrap.

Repair mold water leaks and inspect mold electrical connections to ensure proper function and safe operation. Occasionally run Molding Experimental Orders and distribute product samples as per instructions.

Maintain accurate daily shift change logs. Enhance productivity and efficiency in molding production by managing machine cycles, part containment, and cavitation.

Enter Mattec data, including startup scrap and downtime. Initiate, support, and sustain all 5S activities throughout the molding floor.

Responsible for filling in as molding operators, and material handlers, performing any other capable and reasonable function at the request of supervision.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED required; Previous technical training a plus

Must have at least 1 year of previous plastic injection mold experience
