Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participation in research activities intended to improve the imaging performance and capabilities of X-ray-based products, including and not limited to DR, CT, Mammography, and angiography modalities.
  • Development of image correction algorithms with emphasis on scatter reduction techniques, Monte Carlo simulations, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Implementing math/physics-driven models to simulate performance characteristics of imaging systems.
  • Conducting quantitative modeling in support of new product development.
  • Supporting X-ray product portfolio by collaboratively working with internal development teams and external research partners.
  • Effectively communicating with United Imaging’s colleagues and leadership.
Requirements:

Education

  • PhD in quantitative scientific field: Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, Physics, or Electrical Engineering

Experience

  • Background in algorithm development and implementation, medical image processing, image processing with artificial intelligence, X-ray physics, Computational Photography, and software development. Similar fields can be considered as well.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the medical device industry. Candidates with strong industry acumen can be considered for a senior position.
  • Algorithm development and prototyping using MATLAB, python, C++/C#, java, etc.
  • Experience with Neural Network architectures applied to image processing domain.
  • Familiarity with Cone Beam Computed Tomography modality, intimate knowledge of advanced reconstruction approaches, and experience designing scatter correction algorithms.
  • Experience implementing deterministic solvers, e.g., to model solution of Linear Boltzmann Transport Equation, would be a great advantage.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Monte Carlo techniques and experience with mainstream particle transport codes: Geant4, MCNP, Gate, etc.
  • Familiarity with GPU based software development.

Required Skills or/ Attributes

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills with a can-do attitude.
  • Desire to learn, ask questions and be resourceful to identify innovative applications and creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Willing and able to travel 5-10%, including short term international trips.
