Job Description

TEACHER AIDE

Storyteller Children’s Center seeks a dedicated, experienced, motivated educator to join our team as a teacher aide. This position assists teachers in planning the curriculum and activities for the program. The teacher aide will work with individual students or groups on assigned projects and activities.

ABOUT US

Storyteller Children's Center is a therapeutic preschool providing high-quality early childhood education for children facing adverse challenges in Santa Barbara County and comprehensive support services for their families. We operate three fully licensed education centers serving children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. We strive to prepare our students for kindergarten, increase resilience, and promote protective factors in children, caregivers, teachers, and the community. We focus on positive social-emotional outcomes for our students by providing culturally and developmentally appropriate learning environments and supporting parents in gaining new techniques and skills to help their role as their children’s first teachers.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

● Early Childhood Education units are preferred.

● Experience as a classroom aide or volunteer in a preschool program is preferred.

● Sensitive to the needs of low-income families and cultural differences.

● Ability to maintain a positive attitude toward students, parents, and staff.

● Ability to accurately complete written reports and required documentation.

● Fluency in speaking and writing Spanish is desirable.

● Ability to meet requirements of Community Care Licensing.

SALARY

● Starting at $19.00/hour, dependent upon experience. This is a non-exempt/hourly position.

● Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance and a retirement plan after 30 days of employment.

● Sick/vacation accrual and paid holidays.
