Quality Assurance Engineer Summary

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest quality standards for our products and processes. In this critical position, you will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, ensuring compliance with quality regulations, and implementing continuous improvement measures. Your duties will include performing quality audits, analyzing data, troubleshooting quality issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain consistent product quality. You will also contribute to developing quality protocols, ensuring proper documentation, and conducting training to ensure all team members understand and follow quality standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections on material and metal fabricated components.
  • Use measuring equipment such as calipers, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), Faro-Arm, and laser scanners to inspect for dimensional and tolerance conformance.
  • Apply drawings, standards, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to ensure products comply with requirements.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve fabrication-related issues related to ISO and AIAG standards, Six Sigma, and conformance.
  • Perform specialized product repairs, control, and process non-conforming material as directed (e.g., corrective actions, control plans, FMEA).
  • Document processes and inspection results for tracking and control purposes.
  • Interaction with customers.

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

  • ISO Documentation: Familiarity with ISO documentation and its application.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail in reviewing requirements, specifications, and technical design documents.
  • Problem Analysis and Resolution: Ability to analyze problems and propose effective solutions.
  • Experience: Proficiency in manufacturing and metal fabrication processes, equipment capability, and job skills from material suppliers down to part and process levels.

Physical Demands:

This role involves lifting parts up to 40 pounds and requires standing, walking, and sitting throughout the facility.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree (preferred) or HS/GED (required).
    • At least 2 years of experience in Sheet Metal Fabrication inspection.
    • Attention to detail and technical orientation.
    • Proficiency in using computer software (Excel, Word).
    • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and take initiative.
    • Experience with inspection tools and measuring equipment (calipers, protractors, tape measure, CMM, Faro-Arm, Laser scanner).
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints (standard and GD&T).
    • Experience in inspecting welding, laser cutting, press brake, machining, and powder coat processes is a plus.
