Press Brake Operator / Sheet metal mechanic General Scope: Successful shear and brake press operators possess good hand eye coordination, a steady hand, manual dexterity, the ability to interpret plans and follow both written and verbal directions.

Press Brake Operator / Sheet metal mechanic Position Summary:

• The shear and brake operator loads the metal into the machine

• Uses the controls to shape and cut the metal

• Examines the finished product

• Maintain the machines, i.e. brake dies and shear blades

Press Brake Operator / Sheet metal mechanic Education: Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Press Brake Operator / Sheet metal mechanic Skills: Incumbent must demonstrate following skills:

• Knowledge of blueprints and manuals for machines

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

• Ability to translate situation to coworkers and managers

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
