Job Description
Overview: Three Month Contract Monday to Friday 0700 to 1530
The Cath Lab Technician plays a crucial role in the cardiovascular care team, assisting with various cardiac procedures, medical imaging, and patient care within the catheterization laboratory. They are responsible for operating specialized medical equipment and ensuring radiation safety protocols are strictly followed. This position is vital for delivering high-quality care to patients undergoing cardiac interventions and diagnostic procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in preparing the catheterization laboratory for various cardiac procedures
- Operate and monitor medical imaging equipment during diagnostic and interventional procedures
- Assist the cardiology team during catheterization procedures and other cardiac interventions
- Ensure adherence to radiation safety protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
- Provide direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with patient positioning
- Maintain and troubleshoot medical equipment to ensure proper functionality
- Assist in sterilizing and organizing cath lab instruments and supplies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to cath lab procedures and patient care
- Document patient information and procedure details accurately
- Assist in training and supervising new staff and students in the cath lab
- Associate’s degree in cardiovascular technology or related field
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification
- Prior experience working in a catheterization laboratory or similar cardiac care setting
- Proficient in operating medical imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy machines, IVUS, and pressure wires
- Strong understanding of cardiac procedures and anatomy
- Knowledge of radiation safety practices and protocols in the cath lab environment
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and medical documentation
- Commitment to maintaining professional licensure and certifications through continuing education
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and assist with patient positioning as needed
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a sterile and organized work environment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call and weekend shifts as needed
- Strong dedication to patient advocacy and delivering compassionate care
- Knowledge of emergency procedures and ability to respond effectively in urgent situations
