Job Description
Position Overview:

The Central Authorization Manager will oversee the day-to-day management of the authorizations department employees and will be responsible for making sure our standard operating procedures are being followed and adhered to. The Central Authorizations Manager will have employees based both in the central operations office as well as our clinical locations and will be responsible for all clinical authorizations processes outside of our rehab and specialty program service lines. This role requires a hybrid setup, and candidates are preferred to reside near one of our administrative offices or clinical sites in Oregon or California.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help design, implement, and manage authorization systems and workflows.
  • Maintain and at times create standard operating procedure documentation to establish best practices for central authorization workflows.
  • Maintain and refine staffing requirements for central authorization department.
  • Work with HR to recruit, interview, and hire staff for central authorization positions.
  • Assess overall department performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with the analytics department to establish KPI reporting.
  • Refine and implement central authorization procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiency.
  • Hands-on daily leadership and management of the central authorization staff.
  • Report departmental productivity and metrics to VP of Central Operations.
  • Manage and maintain day to day central authorization workload.
  • Process timecards for central authorization staff.
  • Facilitate onboarding and training for new central authorization staff.
  • Provide central authorization staff with feedback, coaching, objectives, and performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Monitor KPI reporting and feedback systems to measure departmental productivity and identify obstacles.
  • Perform staff reviews and assessments.
  • Lead weekly meetings for central authorization teams, communicating process and policy updates.
  • Monitor central authorization task queues to ensure timely execution of standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the medical field with working knowledge of office referrals and authorizations.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of leadership/management experience leading teams required

Requirements:

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented individual with great organizational skills that can work well with deadlines.
  • Knowledge of CPT Codes, ICD9 Codes and ICD-10
  • Basic understanding of the benefits investigation process which includes deductible, out of pocket and benefit exclusions.
  • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.

Compensation Range:

$65,000 to $75,000 Annually

All compensation ranges are posted based on internal equity, job requirements, experience, and geographical locations.
