Summary:


Under minimal supervision, the Central Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing and supporting all areas of the Central Operations Department and maintaining appropriate standards and controls. This will occasionally include the Treasury Management and Digital Banking functions. The incumbent is required to be fully knowledgeable and skilled in all areas of the department and is expected to provide ongoing leadership, training, and support.ย 


The Central Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the Department adheres to all regulatory requirements and meets processing schedules and the Department operates effectively and meets processing objectives.ย 


The incumbent supports the Central Operations Manager in writing detailed procedures that follow all applicable rules and/or regulations. Assists in the timely completion of compliance, legal, and other sensitive documents of the Department. Works on special projects as assigned by management and upholds the highest standards of the departments' relationships with both internal and external clients. The incumbent will supervise and coordinate activities of Department personnel and their respective operations within the department. This position requires that the individual work in office, independently, and with minimal supervision.


Ensures compliance within all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance and training to staff members of the Central Operations Team
  • Identifies and escalates issues within procedures, processes, or individual workloads to management. May periodically be tasked with creating, updating, documenting, and teaching procedures/procedural changes.ย 
  • Ensures practices are in place for personnel meeting of deadlines, minimizing operational losses, maximizing client service and ensuring high quality work standards,ย 
  • Performs critical operational tasks for the bank including but not limited to:
  • Chargebacks, Large Item returns, Unauthorized Check Claims, Check Adjustments, Stop Payments
  • Debit card and ACH Reg E claims, Merchant Disputes processingย 
  • Payment Processing: ACH receiving and origination
  • Incoming and outgoing wire transfersย 
  • Check processing/in clearing
  • NSF item, critical and non-critical returnsย 
  • ACH File Load Errors
  • Research and balance reconcilement differences
  • Gathers data and prepares reports for Management, audits, and other departments as needed
  • Supports the Central Operations Department with strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Assures quality control in the completion of department certifications
  • May act as audit lead for internal and regulatory audits
  • Answers telephones - answers questions and directs callers to proper personnel.
  • Assumes responsibility for various department functions in the absence of staff members.ย 
  • Minimum of 10 hours CRA volunteer hours per year. Volunteer hours are typically scheduled within business hours. This is compensable time and mileage is reimbursed
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:


Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Provides ongoing guidance, training, and support to the Central Operations team. Taking initiative, planning, assigning, and directing work. Evaluating and writing performance reviews, training, and coaching employees. Handle disciplinary issues; addresses complaints and resolves problems.


Qualifications:ย 

  • Minimum 5 years of Central Operations experience in banking operations and/or banking supervisory roles.
  • Ability to work independently, create and manage time schedules, manage multiple activities and priorities, and maintain productivity.
  • Must have strong critical thinking & problem-solving skills, and effectively utilize resources to complete assignments.
  • Acute attentiveness to instructions and details required.
  • Requires proficiency with administrative computer systems including but not limited to the following:
  • Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlookย 
  • Excellent Typing skills, including proficiency using 10 keys.
  • Webex, Teams, Zoom and other online webinar hosting programs.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled hours.ย 
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:


The incumbent in the course of performing this position frequently spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, operating basic business equipment, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, walking, standing, reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, client contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks, and constant interruptions. The incumbent for this position will occasionally lift up to 15 pounds, pull, squat, kneel and reach. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The work environment is typically quiet to a moderate noise level.
