Job Summary:
The Database Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the administration, performance, availability, security, and operational support of enterprise database environments. This role leads a team of Database Administrators (DBAs), ensures database systems meet business and service-level requirements, and drives automation, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across on-premises and cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage day-to-day database operations across multiple database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.).
* Manage a team of DBAs, including resource planning, performance management, mentoring, and skill development.
* Ensure high availability, reliability, security, and performance of production databases.
* Oversee database monitoring, incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
* Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, patching, backups, recovery, and disaster recovery testing.
* Establish and maintain database operational standards, procedures, and best practices.
* Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and cloud teams to support business initiatives.
* Drive automation initiatives using scripting and database management tools to improve operational efficiency.
* Manage capacity planning, performance tuning, and database optimization activities.
* Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
