Salary: $86,000/year

We are currently seeking candidates to fill the position of Corporate Planner II in the Planning and Power Supply Department.  This position will report to the Manager of Corporate Planning.

 

Position Summary:  Participates in and gathers information for a variety of planning, power supply, and economic analyses, studies, and reports related to projecting future costs, revenues, rates, and power supply alternatives for Central and its Member Cooperatives in order to facilitate Central’s overall planning function. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Gathers information for and participates in various power supply studies for Central and its Member Cooperatives. This includes updating models and validating results.
  2. Prepares written analysis and presentation of results and findings to senior management and Member Cooperatives.  Responsible for data gathering and model updates for Ten-Year Wholesale Power Cost Projections for Member Cooperatives.
  3. Develops a working knowledge of Central’s power supply contracts.
  4. Participates in long-term planning scenarios.
  5. Performs various demand side and generation power supply studies with the department’s planning tools.
  6. Participates in the preparation of Central to Member rates. Gathers data required for assessment of new and existing rates and riders. Works under direct guidance of Manager Corporate Planning.
  7. Supplies other departments with power cost data.
  8. Responsible for various regulatory and informational filings to government agencies.
  9. Performs long-term production cost analysis.
  10. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong quantitative analysis skills.

Good formal presentation and technical writing abilities required.

Ability to work under pressure and immediate deadlines.

Reports, studies, economic analyses and forecasts all require accuracy and detail.           

Strong internal drive for excellence and service orientation are preferred.

 

Education and Work Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, accounting

3 years prior experience or a graduate degree in an appropriate field

Experience with linear regression models required.

Central Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. is a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina. It was created in 1948 and is owned by its Members - the 19 distribution cooperatives of South Carolina. Central and its Member cooperatives provide power to approximately 1/3rd of South Carolina's population through the only statewide electric system.

Central and its Members have transmission and distribution lines in all forty-six counties of South Carolina. Central owns almost 800 miles of transmission lines to tie its Members into the bulk power systems of Duke Energy Carolinas and Santee Cooper. Central's Members own over 70,000 miles of distribution lines to provide power to over 800,000 meters.

Central owns community solar and peaking generator assets but obtains most of its power through long-term purchase agreements with Santee Cooper, Duke Energy Carolinas, and the Southeastern Power Administration.
