Job Description:

A mechanical drafter is a professional who specializes in creating detailed technical drawings and plans that are essential in the manufacturing of mechanical devices, machines, and systems. These drafters play a crucial role in translating the ideas and specifications of engineers into precise and usable blueprints that guide the production process. Mechanical drafters are responsible for developing detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, tools, and controls. They use computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment to produce these drawings, which include dimensions, fastening methods, and other necessary engineering information.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities

· Port drawings and models from current file structure system to PLM system for current release & archived drawings/models

· Change drawing names to match ASME Y14.100 standard.

· Build Solidworks model tree and EBOM/MBOM linkages into the PLM system.

· Incorporate parts obsolescence & compliance databases (Assent, SIliconExpert) as applicable for parts.

· Once most of the PLM integration is complete, transition to:

  · tooling drawings & design,

  · redline incorporation and release of drawing updates.

· Support for Matthew's team as needed for new product drawings & modeling.

· Assist with development of mechanical solutions for continuous improvement.

· Once more thoughtful/specific KC's/KPI's are identified and tracked, monitor performance.

· Participate in Root Cause Analyses & Corrective Actions

 

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience

· Experience with ASME Y14 for both GD&T (14.5) and drawing naming conventions (Y14.100)

· Experience with Solidworks and PLM integration.

· Ability to work in interdisciplinary team.

· Desired: experience with continuous improvement/sustainment efforts

· College degree or equivalent certifications like American Design Drafting Association (ADDA)
