Job Summary

Responsible for assisting the BSA Officer in the administration, monitoring and ongoing improvement of the Bank’s BSA/AML/OFAC Program to ensure compliance with BSA, AML, CTF and OFAC requirements in all areas of the Bank. Responsible for developing and implementing ongoing training programs, policies and procedures. Owns the technology behind BSA such as monitoring software and other solutions used by the department. Compiles all metrics for regular risk

reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exhibits strong leadership skills, exhibits positivity and commitment, encourages, galvanizes and motivates the team. Shows strong support for the bank, is solution oriented, always looking for ways to safely support growth.
  • Continuously improve the BSA/AML written program. Utilize high level business writing skills to ensure forms, policies, procedures are current, timely, relevant, compliant and reflect the appropriate risk.
  • Ensure BSA systems are appropriately leveraged. Continuously looking for new ways to utilize technology to bring better solutions and efficiency to the Bank’s monitoring/reporting efforts.
  • Audit liaison for BSA/AML audits/examinations as well as calibration and other BSA system validations.
  • Develop and implement effective and creative BSA training programs, including focused training for high-risk verticals. Maintain BSA training schedule/calendar for the Bank.
  • Compile and deliver quantitative data needed to support management reporting and the BSA Risk Assessment. Utilize strong presentation skills to prepare dashboards for the BOD and associated committees.
  • Management and leadership support to the BSA Team in the absence of the BSA Officer. Back up SAR, CTR, and 314(a)/314(b) reviews and approvals in BSA Officer absence.
  • Responsible for back testing and/or certifications required for high-risk accounts and verticals.
  • Assist BSA Officer with performing due diligence reviews for higher risk clients and client opportunities and communicate results in a professional and collaborative manner.
  • Sustain a current awareness of the regulatory environment and emergent regulatory and financial crime risks that may impact the bank’s products/services, and BSA/AML controls.
  • Gain and maintain global AML awareness in countries we bank including

geo-political, social, and economic, issues. Keep abreast of escalations and how it may impact high risk verticals.

  • Maintain effective channels of communication and collaboration with business units to understand BSA/AML, and OFAC risks.
  • Assist BSA Officer in acting as an escalation point for the BSA department in order to resolve issues, cases, alerts, etc. Work on complex issues where analysis of situation or data requires and in-depth evaluation of variables.
  • Assist BSA Officer in performing assessments of potential BSA/AML and OFAC risks related to new business and product lines (new products, services, customer segments and geographic footprint)
  • Participate in Bank projects as needed.
  • Works full time in an office with travel to other office locations regularly.
  • In addition to training, attends ACAMS conference in-person each year and a minimum of 2 in-person BSA/AML related events. Maintains CAMS ongoing training through webinars and other events.

BSA/AML/Compliance Responsibilities

This position includes direct or indirect interaction with customers and other employees and therefore includes responsibilities relating to BSA/AML. The employee will have opportunity to examine and view information and documents produced by other employees of the Bank relating to BSA and therefore has the obligation to report suspicious activity to the BSA Officer as appropriate. The employee is responsible for understanding and following the Bank’s BSA/AML policies including elevating suspicious activity to the BSA Officer. Additionally, the employee is required to understand and follow the Bank’s compliance program.

Qualifications

/ Skills

  • Fluent in business Spanish and familiarity with banking Mexican companies and their corporate documents is preferred.
  • CAMS Certification required prior to hire.
  • ACAMS CAFCA certification and one Advance Specialist-Level

Certification from ACAMS are both required. May be obtained post-hire as long as qualifications for both are verified prior to hire and commitment to timing/attendance are confirmed prior to hire.

  • Very strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Very strong business writing skills.
  • Strong at business presentations such as Power Point.
  • Comfortable, both inwardly and outwardly, speaking in front of audiences
  • Effective and creative trainer
  • Four-year college degree in Business, Economics or Accounting are preferred.
  • Strong skills in internet based and system-based research techniques, email communications and ability to learn other related software applications as required.
  • 10+ years BSA/AML/OFAC/CIP banking compliance experience
  • Strong understanding of banking transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity monitoring
  • Deep understanding of the rules, laws and guidance applicable to money laundering, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA PATRIOT Act, US Treasury FinCEN AML/CTF guidelines, OFAC SDN and country sanctions, as well as FATF recommendations, and the Wolfsberg Group principles
  • Must be well-informed on BSA/AML/KYC and OFAC matters as well as customers, financial products, services, and bank operations
  • Experience interacting successfully with federal banking regulators
