SUMMARY:
Design, implement, and secure computer and information networks, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks. Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning, including analysis of capacity needs for network infrastructures. Optimize network performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams. Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, topologies, and procedures. Evaluate and select network equipment and services vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry network security and data privacy standards.
Network Architect Responsibilities and Qualifications
Designing Network Infrastructure: Develop and design scalable, secure, and reliable network architectures that meet the organization's current and future needs.
Network Planning and Strategy: Create strategic plans for infrastructure development, including capacity planning and network optimization. Plan for continual future network infrastructure upgrade cycles.
Implementation and Deployment: Oversee the implementation and deployment of network infrastructure, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols, to protect the network from cyber threats.
Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize network performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, topologies, and procedures.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, cybersecurity experts, and software developers, to ensure seamless network infrastructure integration with other IT systems.
Vendor Management: Evaluate and select vendors for network equipment and services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to network security and data privacy
Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level support for network-related issues, troubleshooting problems, and timely solution implementation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology required. Certifications CCIE and/or CCDE equivalent are required.
15 years of experience in network engineering and administration, with progressively increasing responsibilities. Experience with secure integration of industrial control system (ICS) networks with enterprise business networks and network architecture design are required.
Proficiency in networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Encryptions, VLANs, VPNs, routing and switching. Experience with network monitoring and management tools is also essential
Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewall configuration, access control, encryption, and vulnerability management.
Ability to analyze complex network requirements and propose innovative solutions to meet business needs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve network issues quickly and efficiently.
Experience managing network infrastructure projects from conception to completion, including resource planning, scheduling, and budget management.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues from diverse technical backgrounds.
Willingness to stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends in network architecture and security
Experience with multi-domain systems (preferred)
