The Site Safety Manager supports the company's commitment to safety at Blue Ridge Power's (BRP's) utility-scale solar projects. The Safety Manager must proactively provide leadership at the project site to facilitate a culture based on safety, teamwork, and collaboration. This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position.

This position is 100% travel and offers per diem while working on our project sites. Site states include, but are not limited to, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Michigan, Texas, Indiana, and Kentucky.

What You'll Do:

  • Implement and support the company's safety program at the company's utility-scale solar projects.
  • Communicates the company's safety philosophies and values to all team members, including craft labor and staff, construction managers, superintendents, and project managers, to ensure understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to the Company's safety programs and policies.
  • Provide safety leadership and promote a positive safety culture.
  • Collaborate with the craft in the field daily to facilitate the implementation of the company's safety program and to support craft ownership of the safety program.
  • Conducted safety meetings, including orientations, toolbox talks, committee meetings, company-wide safety moments, and corporate safety updates.
  • Perform job site safety inspections and audits.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for all employees exhibiting unsafe and safe behaviors.
  • Conduct incident investigations or facilitate accident investigations, including root cause identification.
  • Monitor, review, and manage site safety concerns, partnering with operational leaders to ensure timely closure.
  • Review internal safety/operations reports to ensure beneficial safety information is included within weekly/daily project planning. 
  • Coordinate, manage, and respond to OSHA agency-level audits as directed by the Regional Safety Manager and Safety team leadership.
  • Ensure timely notifications for serious events are made to the Regional Safety Manager and operation leaders. 
  • Support construction leadership by participating in job safety analysis, plan of day, and other meetings.
  • Recommend processes and safety features that reduce employees' exposure to physical, environmental, and ergonomic hazards.
  • Maintain all relevant health and safety documentation, training records, and forms in accordance with company policy.
  • All other assigned responsibilities by Regional Safety Manager and Safety Department leadership.

Must-Haves:

  • OSHA 510.
  • 3-5+ years of safety and health experience.
  • Prior experience in a managerial position.
  • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Products, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Prior electrical experience is preferred.
  • Prior heavy equipment experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the solar/ renewable energy industry is preferred.
  • Fluent in Spanish.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study is preferred.
  • OSHA 500 with outreach training experience.
  • BCSP Certification (Ex. CHST) preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demand:

  • May require lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel up to 100% and per diem is offered while working on our project site(s).
  • The position requires travel to the project site(s).
