Job purpose

The Aquatics Supervisor / Youth Coordinator provides programmatic oversight and supervision directly to support the Pool Manager in program development and overall aquatics operations. The Aquatics Supervisor / Youth Coordinator performs routine and complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge, prior relevant experience, and considerable independent judgment and decision-making. The Aquatics Supervisor / Youth Coordinator will oversee and maintain the daily duties and responsibilities of Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and Coaches. This position is responsible for planning, overseeing, and directing the operations, services, staff, and activities of all assigned Youth Services programs. Performance requires the ability to work independently with initiative and discretion within established guidelines. This classification will maintain daily responsibilities of creating, programming, and implementing as it pertains to our Oakmont CC clubhouse lifestyle in the areas of golf, pool, and extracurricular.

Duties and responsibilities

Aquatics Duties:

  • Ensure all aspects of pool safety by enforcing all pool and Club rules.
  • Act and oversee daily pool activities and maintain communication between facility and Members.
  • Always supervise and observe swimmers to ensure safety.
  • Maintain positive and friendly relationships with Members and coworkers.
  • Respond to emergencies as entailed in your lifeguard scope of practice.
  • Create weekly staff schedules.
  • Complete payroll timely and in communication with HR
  • Have access to provided email addresses for communication with staff and Membership.
  • Complete online digital platform training.
  • Ensure Lifeguards’ skills are current and meet the objective.
  • Design training outlines for Lifeguards, Coaches, and Instructors.
  • Assist the Pool Manager with staff interviews prior to the Summer season.
  • Complete frequent staff evaluations.
  • Ensure all equipment around the facility is being maintained and reported to Pool Manager as replacements are needed.
  • Be dressed in the appropriate uniform as provided to you.
  • Order and budget staff and team merchandise and uniforms.
  • Update website and advertise upcoming events.
  • Designed and oversee pool programs and events.
  • Organize and schedule swim lesson programs.
  • Complete billing regularly in communication with the accounting team for guests, merchandise, lessons, programs, etc.
  • Attending all meetings and training as directed by the pool manager and board Members.
  • Responsible for all other duties as described for as a lifeguard as a standing model of expectation.

Youth Duties:

  • Plans, directs, and oversees staff, operations, and activities in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; evaluates program effectiveness; recommends changes and implements management decisions.
  • Execute our Club’s Program - plan and organize varied activities for children that are age appropriate and meet the developmental needs of the participants.
  • Continuously monitors staffing at assigned site(s) to ensure staffing levels are consistent with requirements; re-evaluates and re-assigns staff as needed.
  • Maintains curriculum in line with industry standards; oversees short- and long-term curriculum planning including, but not limited to, summer planning and other activities.
  • Update website/app and advertise upcoming events.
  • Serves as a liaison and resource for membership; receives and responds to questions, concerns, and complaints; determines issues and resolves, or refers to manager; maintains open communication among all groups.
  • Manages site budget and assists with projects expenditures; monitors and tracks expenditures and fees collected; monitors inventory and purchases authorized supplies and equipment.
  • Assists in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and staff training for program areas.
  • Develops procedures’ in-service training sessions, safety drills, and other emergency procedures; ensures staff and others participate in required training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Develop relationship with Club Members and teens to better understand programming needs.
  • Responsible for all billing associated with teen events.
  • Maintain the highest level of program quality and standards.
  • Maintain staff/child ratio based on anticipated attendance to ensure a safe and healthy environment for participants and monitor staff hours based on changing enrollment, adjusting staff hours where necessary.
  • Execute Summer Camp Program - plan and organize varied activities for summer camp that are age appropriate and meet the developmental needs of the participants.
  • Assist in training for Aquatics/Youth Assistant Team Members
  • Manage staff and help with challenges that may arise.
  • Maintain registration forms, field trip waivers/permission slips, and all roster files, and ensure accuracy in records for proper billing procedures.
  • Report any safety hazards immediately to General Manager, Assistant General Manager and Maintenance.
  • Set appropriate limits in order to provide a fun, safe and positive experience.
  • Execute our Club’s Program - plan and organize varied activities for children that are Develop relationship with Club members and teens to better understand programming needs.
  • Execute all children's programs and be in attendance for ALL family events throughout the year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge

  • · Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Computer Skills – Highly proficient at Microsoft Office Suite etc.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Education and Training — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Aquatics Background Mandatory
  • Personnel and Human Resources — Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection & training.
  • Professional Training - CPR Certification required.
  • Psychology — Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Certification Requirements:
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard
  • CPR/AED for the professional Rescuer and First Aid
  • CPR/AED/Lifeguarding Instructor

Qualifications

  • Education and experience can combine for the 4 years (i.e. AA and 2 years of experience).
  • 21 years of age.
  • Red Cross certified instructor with up to date certifications.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • CPR/AED for the professional Rescuer and First Aid
  • Minimum 2 years of working in recreational group programming, schools, or childcare
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Proficiency in Excel (Intermediate Skills), Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to handle diverse groups of kids in age and communicate with parents
  • Creative & problem-solving mindset
  • Strong communication skills, team player, proactive, and positive mental attitude

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and outdoor conditions.
  • Public speaking at meetings and events
