FACILITIES TECHNICIAN

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position focusses on a highly skilled facilities technician in maintenance that supports the needs of the Operations teams in a fast-paced, automated distribution facility.

• Performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the following:
  1. Conveyor systems, including motors, belts, rollers and pulleys, pneumatic components, and clutch assemblies. Requires calculating conveyor speed of component changes, troubleshooting motor starters and frequency drives, nor using PLC inputs/outputs nor MCC electrical diagrams.
  2. Crane systems, including troubleshooting electrical and PLC system and components.
  3. Compressors
  4. Packaging machines, including troubleshooting using PLC inputs/outputs
  5. Energy management system, which requires knowledge of system components and function; and identifying system issues using graphic display.
  6. Fire system, including testing and reading blueprints of all facilities.
  7. Sorter systems troubleshooting not to include the database.
  8. Printers, labelers, scanners, PC terminals and scales
  9. Material handling equipment, including battery charger issues and electrical AC/DC circuits.
  10. Uses the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) daily to enter time spent on projects/repairs, communicate turnover items to supervisors and other shifts and to enter repair comments.
  11. Electrical skills including bending/sizing conduit; install and terminate data cabling; troubleshoot all voltages and components.
  12. Testing and troubleshooting fire system of the facility.
  13. Basic familiarity with PLCs. The ability to read PLC ladder logic is a plus.
  14. Replace lighting ballasts and fuses, resetting overloads.
  15. HVAC knowledge and abilities to read HVAC diagrams; describe system components and their operation; understand the energy management system/HVAC interface; brazing; troubleshooting the refrigerant system; and boiler control.
  16. Perform general plumbing duties such as piping and threading; troubleshoot and repair water heaters and repair/replace pumps. Knowledge of code is required for this position.
  17. Perform general carpentry, interior/exterior painting and hanging drywall. Calculates material lists. Skills in taping and finishing
  18. Troubleshoot the access control system used for building security; adjust camera focus.
  19. General outdoor duties on company property and grounds as required.
  20. Periodically serve as on-call technician
  21. Must be able work extra hours and weekends and work at either the Indianapolis or the Plainfield facility.
  22. Ability to effectively train junior technicians.
  23. Other duties as assigned that support the business and its efficient and safe operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have the ability to perform mechanical and preventive maintenance on all distribution equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder diagrams and blueprints.
• Seven years as a technician performing electrical/mechanical repairs in an industrial environment.
• Strong Electrical and PLC experience required.
• Strong motor control experience required.
