Job Title: Fatality Review Coordinator

Classification: Nonexempt

Job Purpose: As a direct report to the Director of Fatality Review, this position has the primary responsibility of providing support to the Fatality Review Project as assigned by the Director. These activities help ICADV ensure implementation and coordination of domestic violence fatality review regional review teams is launched and continues. Also, conducts necessary research and develops draft language for approval by the Director or other groups.

Job Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate establishment of regional review teams across Illinois and collaboratively develop regional implementation plans and procedures in accordance with the state domestic violence fatality review committee guidelines.
  • Support the development and delivery of training and ongoing technical assistance to regional review teams as needed.
  • Support the Director of Fatality Review in ICADV’s preparation for and participation in the statewide fatality review committee as assigned.
  • Provide input to the creation and execution of processes for monitoring compliance of regional review teams with the state fatality review committee guidelines.
  • Identify proposed corrective action plans for regional review teams not in compliance with established guidelines set by the statewide committee and ensure those plans are carried out successfully.
  • Provide input to the Director and committee as needed for response to emerging policy issues that impact ICADV’s mission by researching, analyzing and assessing qualitative and quantitative data, policies, and system responses to survivors and their children.
  • Develop and distribute technical assistance and training materials as needed.
  • Provide support as needed in the development of various project reports or presentations.
  • Participate in committees, commissions, and task force work as needed and assigned.
  • Organize and present information to governmental agencies or other stakeholders as required.
  • Perform other duties as may be necessary or assigned by the Director of Fatality Review or the CEO.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.

Required Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or comparable work experience.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the domestic violence or related social justice field.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and general service provision for families experiencing DV.
  • Working knowledge of how to effectively work with nonprofit, government, and for-profit institutions.
  • Thorough familiarity with the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence or similar not-for-profit or membership organization.
  • General knowledge of the goals and objectives of standard domestic violence prevention programming.

  • Appropriate conflict resolution methods which lead to positive solutions.
  • Ability to exercise ethical communication strategies which lead to strong team building, cooperation, and execution of ICADV goals.
  • Ability to speak in public forums and conduct trainings.
  • Strong presentation skills necessary for effectively training participants in the areas of advocacy and other policy areas.

Software:

  • Experience working with Windows operating systems in a network environment.
  • MS Word or comparable word processing application.
  • MS PowerPoint or comparable presentation applications.
  • Adobe Acrobat.
  • Basic OR Advanced ability to manipulate and configure audio-visual and mobile technology equipment.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • All staff at ICADV must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, non-smoking, feminist-centered environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of people as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Work environment options include:
    • HYBRID POSITION: ICADV Office headquartered in Springfield, IL and negotiated remote option with approval of CEO and position supervisor up to four days remote.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for long periods.
  • Stooping, crouching.
  • Typing.
  • Sitting for long periods.
  • Ability to manipulate and configure basic audio and visual and mobile technology equipment.
  • Possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

Physical Effort/Lifting:

  • Up to 20 pounds (light).

 

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires travel within Illinois.
