Fine Arts Supervisor - Transportation, Miami
 

UOVO, the nation’s leading storage and services provider for art, archives, and collectibles seeks a full-time Fine Arts Supervisor - Transportation to join its dynamic and growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, experience working in art services and transportation industries, and will be comfortable managing daily transport operations for UOVO’s trucking fleet. The Fine Arts Supervisor - Transportation will report to the Director of Operations.

Core Responsibilities
  • Manage UOVO Miami Transportation Department personnel, including Crew Chiefs and Art Handlers/Drivers, enforcing best practices, superior technical skills and client satisfaction.
  • Evaluate Offsite/Transport work orders daily and prep for upcoming jobs; making sure the scope of work is well understood by the team and all materials are prepped in advance
  • Work closely with the Business Development team, specifically the Senior Estimator, in scoping and estimating large, technically complicated projects, making sure that the respective crew chief for the project is informed of all project-specific updates
  • In conjunction with the Dispatcher, resolve any issues related to scope, team size, and/or fleet maintenance that have an impact on the schedule.
  • Identify projects which require a preliminary site visit to be performed
  • In conjunction with other key personnel, ensure the highest level of efficiency for the transportation schedule in Miami, working to maximize the number of clients serviced
  • Perform and document site visits, updating the Account Manager team and the respective Crew Chief with any scope changes
  • In cooperation with the wider operations team, directly source materials for Transport/Offsite work which are not in stock in-house, coding those charges in our database accordingly
  • Work in conjunction with Account Management team members and Technical Operations staff to supply truck and drivers with any additional information, equipment or materials for complex offsite installations and coordination of project management for offsite work
  • Proactively mentor and manage transport team personnel for development and growth, streamlined communication, and team development
  • Communicate effectively to the driving team via text, phone calls and emails regarding the overview and scope of service requests
  • Ensure the Miami fleet is well maintained including coordinating all repairs and maintenance
  • Work with the National Fleet Compliance Team as needed to support accurate Driver ELD logs, records, and DOT compliance issues
  • Assist with closing work orders
  • Lead technical training sessions for the Art Handler/Drive team in Miami
  • Ensure best practices for packing and installation and work in conjunction with other Operations team members to ensure all UOVO handlers are well trained and mentored in methods and materials
  • In conjunction with other key stakeholders, establish goals and objectives in line with UOVO’s Performance Management program, providing quarterly feedback and completing annual performance reviews for all direct reports and their teams

  • In cooperation with the Director of Operations, recruit for open positions, ensuring a fair, transparent, and inclusive process
  • Other projects as assigned by the Manager

Qualifications & Skills
  • Team Player who can work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Comfortable in a results-driven workplace
  • 5+ years of logistical and art handling experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically 
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills
  • Pro-active and solution-oriented with the ability to think creatively
  • Ability to learn UOVO’s software systems
  • Experience managing complex operational processes
  • Experience handling 2D and 3D artworks
  • Ability to push and pull 150 pounds on a dolly or cart, as well as 50 pounds without mechanical aid
  • Ability to carry 40 pounds of varying size and shape up to a distance of 90 feet
  • Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach overhead
  • Ability to be exposed to outside weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain and snow
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift preferred
  • Familiarity with the use of hand trucks, pallet jacks, jbars, dollies, scissor lifts, genie lifts and other necessary warehouse equipment
  • Interest or experience in learning inventory management systems

This in-person position requires on-site presence at UOVO’s Miami, FL facility five days a week with occasional requests to work nights and on weekends.
