Job Description

Job Purpose/Summary

Responsible for co-leading a school site team in the implementation of the Full Service Community School and CIS Model at a comprehensive CIS of Nevada site. Serve as a liaison between site school leadership team and the CIS of Nevada leadership team. Responsible for developing, planning, implementing, and supervising the tasks associated with the annual Full Service Community School Support Plan to include three tiers of wraparound services as well as four pillars of FSCS model. Implement the Community School model, through coordinated efforts with the principal, named partners and CIS leadership team in areas such as improving student achievement through the development and scheduling programs to support students and their families; enhancing the home to school relationships; assisting in the development and maintenance of the schools as the hub of the community; and conducting periodic program evaluations and reports on operations and outcomes. Work closely with school staff, parents/families, community agencies and students to assure coordination of services for the benefit of the students and their families. Establish trust and rapport with school staff, community partners, students and families.

Work closely with school administration and community partners to deepen relationships while also identifying and creating new relationships that would enhance student and school wide goal outcomes. Responsible for monitoring and analyzing school and student outcomes and actively working to enhance results. Perform any and all reasonable and work-related duties assigned by CIS of Nevada Leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities

Campus Planning & School Relations:

  • Assess the current campus needs with administration, teachers, school staff, parents/guardians and students, and coordinate community resources where possible to provide the needed services.
  • Evaluate campus-specific and student-specific needs and barriers and coordinate resources to meet the needs and assist with removing barriers.
  • Complete Full Service Community School Needs Assessment and coordinate with ISS SC to create School Support Plan within established timelines.
  • Plan and implement special events and guest speakers for students with pre-approved programs as part of the CIS FSCS Program Plan.
  • Plan parental involvement and family engagement activities and assist partners with community family engagement activities to meet FSCS plan needs.
  • Assist CIS of Nevada leadership in collaborating with community agencies and fostering new community resources.
  • Collaborate with school staff to provide or broker appropriate services to address attendance, behavioral, course performance, and physical or social services for students in need and ensure compliance with school district policies and procedures.
  • Promote cooperation between school staff, administration, and the CIS of Nevada team members.
  • Collaborate with school staff to integrate the CIS of Nevada Tier I, Tier II and Tier III services, and keep informed about pertinent activities occurring at the school and in the community.
  • Network with school staff to create and maintain a positive image of CIS of Nevada.
  • Coordinate community events and special events / speaking opportunities, support community cause marketing / events, and attend community and school events.
  • Provide desired feedback to the school and agency personnel.
  • Communicate regularly with the school administration and staff.
  • Maintain accurate record of in-kind donation process and documentation.
  • Participate in school assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain partnerships with local community partners to deliver services and programs to students and families.
  • Maintain follow-through and persistence when corresponding with students, school staff, community partners and volunteers.

Student Support Programming:

  • Implement data-driven interventions related to key priority areas which may include but are not limited to: improving daily student attendance and reducing chronic absenteeism, increasing positive student behavior, increasing math and reading proficiency among students performing below grade level, increasing school climate, increasing social/emotional learning, and increasing the use of trauma informed care practices.
  • Refer students for case management to CIS Site Coordinator.
  • Engage parents/guardians through increased communication and family events.
  • Monitor attendance, behavior, course performance, social/emotional and/or specified program goals for school population.
  • Coordinate distribution of Tier I support and basic need items at the school site.
  • Promote the Community School model in public settings to seek additional and stronger programs and business partnerships.
  • Keep all documentation current, which is within 30 calendar days of the service delivery.
  • Access and coordinate community health and human services agencies for services delivered for the benefit of CIS of Nevada students and their families.
  • Develop relationships and partnerships with neighborhood residents, community-based organizations, local businesses, and communities of faith to support the goals of the leadership team and the key priority areas.
  • Perform mandated reporting for Tier I supports, including those initiated and coordinated through partners.
  • Work with CIS Site Coordinator to develop relationships in feeder pattern schools and associated activities.
  • Provide regular supervision for all volunteers to support the operation of the Community School Model.
  • Supervise staff as applicable and recruit, train, and supervise school-based volunteers.
  • Manage Full Service Community Program budgets to support the community school related activities.

Data, Documentation & Reporting:

  • Complete documentation in the required format, within established timelines.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reports in the required format, within required timelines.
  • Enter service data for all students in the data entry system, within 30 days of the service delivery. Review entries to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all the following are entered on time and with accuracy: Community School Support Plan, basic needs entries, quarterly progress monitoring and evaluation reports.
  • Report to CIS of Nevada Leadership any issues affecting school relationships and emergency information.
  • Complete required correspondence and communication, including telephone and e-mail correspondence.
  • Respond to and complete special reports as required by CIS of Nevada leadership.
  • Enter all progress monitoring data quarterly and end of year data within established timelines.
  • Share quarterly progress reports with school leadership, school support team, and affiliate leadership within established timelines.
  • Generate reports and share outcomes with the Communities In Schools Leadership team, defined program partners, the building principal, the school leadership, and any additional funders/donors/educators as requested by supervisor.
  • Immediately report all problems with the data entry system to the Data Department and CIS of Nevada Leadership.
  • Monitor and respond to emails and telephone inquiries regarding CIS program Tier Supports, Basic Needs and all inquiries.

Meetings, Training and Professional Development:

  • Attend all CIS of Nevada Coordinator meetings.
  • Participate in CIS Community School Core meetings and assigned program team meetings.
  • Participate in CIS of Nevada programmatic, data and professional development training.
  • Attend, participate or assist with school base wraparound services meetings, community meetings and/or staff meetings.
  • Public speaking and effective presentation skills.
  • Complete Site Coordinator Learning Pathway certification through CIS University within required timeline and required CIS Nevada State Standards trainings with verification annually.
  • Understand all policies and procedures of the assigned school site and school district and complete school district training as required.
  • Research and apply best practices from other Community Schools and Communities In Schools sites and from local and national educational and service programs.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Social Work, Education, or the health and human services field preferred
  • Works well within a matrix structure where more than one individual is providing guidance, feedback, counsel, and support.( simplify this please)
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and case management for at least one year preferred.
  • Some travel, including events, conferences, meetings, travel between school sites, etc. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment criminal background check, fingerprint screen and drug testing.
  • Experience in utilizing data to make data-driven decisions.
  • Leadership experience for on-site coordination of service providers, volunteers, parents/guardians, students, and school staff.
  • Ability to work effectively with a broad range of representatives from public and private service organizations, public education, neighborhood organizations, parent/guardian groups, and local government.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred.

  • Ability to work with culturally diverse staff and populations and a variety of education stakeholders and audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills, along with computer and database skills.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Use of automobile to travel to required school sites.
  • Moderate noise levels as found in a business office.
