Position Overview
The School Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing direct school nursing services in an effort to promote prevention, medical management and academics.

Essential Job Functions
\xe2\x80\xa2 Provides school nursing services to direct service school districts
\xe2\x80\xa2 Assesses and evaluates the health and developmental status of the student in order to make a nursing diagnosis and establish a priority for action
\xe2\x80\xa2 Interprets the health and developmental status of the student to school personnel, parents, and the student as appropriate
\xe2\x80\xa2 Serves as a health resource person in the health instruction curriculum and takes leadership with faculties in planning and implementing a health education programs.
\xe2\x80\xa2 Provides parent education related to student needs
\xe2\x80\xa2 Participation in the development of Health Plans and attend school conferences when applicable. Provide care, delegate and teach care to others under the established plan of care while following the direction of a physician, nursing supervisor, school designee and/or parent
\xe2\x80\xa2 Attend appropriate continuing education programs as per licensure requirements and participate in Aveanna in-servicing and training as offered
\xe2\x80\xa2 Exhibit behavior supporting and promoting student\xe2\x80\x99s rights and overall wellbeing
\xe2\x80\xa2 Follow Aveanna and school board policies and procedures that affect the health, safety, and wellbeing of students in the school health setting. Report any changes in the student\xe2\x80\x99s mental, physical, or environmental condition (including any incidents) to the physician, nursing supervisor, school designee and parent as applicable
\xe2\x80\xa2 Recognize and report signs of substance abuse, physical abuse or neglect
\xe2\x80\xa2 Provide a clean and safe environment within the school, including the safe use of equipment
\xe2\x80\xa2 Identify appropriate methods for storage of equipment, supplies, and medications.
\xe2\x80\xa2 Maintain and coordinate standards of nursing while managing a comprehensive school health program
\xe2\x80\xa2 Provide preventive and rehabilitative measures while assisting/providing nursing assessments and screenings in an effort to promote safety and health for all
\xe2\x80\xa2 Perform treatments and/or procedures with skill and competence
\xe2\x80\xa2 Maintain and follow physician order for any invasive procedure and/or skill
\xe2\x80\xa2 Administer medication as per MD order and/or parental consent
\xe2\x80\xa2 Provide individual teaching and training with student and/or others in an effort to encourage and promote student independence when applicable
\xe2\x80\xa2 Collaborate, coordinate and supervise services with others in order to promote academics and individualized student needs
\xe2\x80\xa2 Accurately document services provided in accordance with agency policies and procedures on the day the services are rendered
\xe2\x80\xa2 Submit nursing documentation, logs, reports and timesheets within a timely manner and per policy

Requirements
\xe2\x80\xa2 Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
\xe2\x80\xa2 Current, unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
\xe2\x80\xa2 Current CPR certification
\xe2\x80\xa2 Current Basic Life Support certification
\xe2\x80\xa2 Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures
Additional state specific requirements:
\xe2\x80\xa2 Continuing Education as required by state

Preferences
\xe2\x80\xa2 Pediatrics experience preferred

\xe2\x80\xa2 Must have strong sense of smell and touch
\xe2\x80\xa2 Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance
\xe2\x80\xa2 Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations in the home or during transport

Environment
\xe2\x80\xa2 Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
\xe2\x80\xa2 Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids and infectious diseases
