Our client, a prominent municipal department in the Milwaukee area, is currently in the process of interviewing candidates for a vital role as an Accountant within their organization..

The Accountant will provide administrative support to the accounting department. This person will be responsible for preparing reconciliations, analyzing financial transactions, and preparing journal entries.

This is a long term contract role.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Assist with audits and internal control processes.
  Receives, processes, and prepares various payments.
• Analyzes, verifies, and/or reconciles assigned accounts.
• Reviews and analyzes financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Maintains and reconciles various payments.
• Prepares journal entries, reviews entries for accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve departmental goals.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
•  1-3 years of related experience.
• Proficiency in Accounting principles and practices.
• Knowledge of methods for preparing journal entries and budgetary principles; and Federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
• Experience in reconciling accounts and analyzing financial transactions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
• Excellent written & communication skills; interpersonal, time management, organizational, and strong problem-solving skills; attention to detail.
