Summary:

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Quality Assurance Manager oversees quality assurance and laboratory functions for the Winona Foods manufacturing facilities.

Job Duties:

The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  1. Understand production processes and advocate procedures to ensure that safe quality products are produced.
  2. Support the Production Supervisors with equipment, quality and process issues
  3. Oversee the tracking and use of trim, rework and returns per policy
  4. Provide leadership and direction to Quality Assurance Team for the facility as well as the Quality Compliance Supervisor and their respective team.
  5. Work with the Winona Sales team to oversee any visitors/guests within the facility and manage customer interactions in the plant.
  6. Build and update operational documents, procedures and policies to improve upon quality and production efficiencies.
  7. Document, handle, track and report corrective actions in the production facility.
  8. Develop, revise, and implement new quality policies, procedures and programs.
  9. Supervise the Winona Foods Document Control Program and all corresponding changes.
  10. Develop internal audit programs that will ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory and customer requirements, recommend and implement corrective action plans where necessary.
  11. Supervise all Internal Audits for GFSI Programs.
  12. Develop the standard GMP's, SOP's, HACCP plans and other food safety quality policies and programs.
  13. Ensure that the company is compliant with all federal, state and customer requirements
  14. Partner with Production Manager and others to manage the facility GFSI initiative and implementation. Will be the primary BRC Practitioner to facility and will be backup BRC Practitioner to other Winona Foods facilities.
  15. All other duties as assigned

Manager Responsibilities:

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Production Supervisors and improving operational efficiencies while maintaining appropriate quality levels.

Qualifications:
  • Requires four year college degree with one to two years experience; or two year technical degree with two to four years experience; or high school diploma with six to eight years experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents such as standard operating procedures, lab results, certificates of analysis, etc.
  • Ability to write standard documentation
  • Ability to effectively present information to other employees in the organization
  • Ability to effectively communicate, prepare and present information to internal and external customers using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Particular proficiency in Excel to develop and maintain reports, trending quality data and operational effectiveness measurements
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
