Legal Secretary

Responsibilities:

·         Provide administrative support to litigation partner and, at times, other attorneys/staff and enhance office effectiveness

·         Prepare and electronically file pleadings, motions and briefs in state and federal trial courts and courts of appeal

·         Prepare and record liens/discharge of liens; serve the liens

·         Prepare garnishments

·         Schedule depositions

·         Filings with the American Arbitration Association - online filings as participant and as mediator.

·         Corporate filing with various states.

·         Maintain calendars

·         Maintain contact lists

·         Coordinate and schedule meetings

·         Communication with clients

·         Answer and direct phone calls

·         Extensive file organization

Requirements:

·         5+ years’ experience as a legal secretary

·         Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocol, and court system

·         Knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office

·         Computer literacy

·         Proficiency in English

·         Working knowledge of case management software, Microsoft Word/Excel

·         Excellent secretarial and organizational skills

·         High energy with the ability to juggle multiple activities under pressure and handle different personalities

·         Legal Assistant certification or diploma a plus
