Trystar’s team members are our most important asset, we are in search of a Brake Press Operator for our Fabrication Department. This position plays a critical role in achieving our strategic objectives. Trystar’s Brake Press Operator position is an important part of Trystar’s plan to become the world’s foremost custom solution provider.

The Brake Press Operator is a skilled professional responsible for operating press brake machines to bend, shape, and form sheet metal or other materials according to engineering drawings and specifications. They play a crucial role in the manufacturing process, ensuring precise and efficient production of components used in various industries.

In this role you will get to:

  • Machine Setup: Prepare and set up the press brake machine by loading the appropriate tooling, dies, and materials. Ensure the machine is correctly calibrated and aligned for accurate bending operations.
  • Material Handling: Position and align sheet metal or other materials on the press brake bed, ensuring proper placement for precise bending.
  • Bending Operations: Operate the press brake machine to bend or form materials as per engineering drawings and specifications. This includes selecting the appropriate tooling, adjusting machine settings, and monitoring the bending process.
  • Quality Control: Regularly inspect bent components to verify dimensional accuracy and quality, using measuring instruments such as calipers and gauges.
  • Tool Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on press brake tooling, ensuring they are in good condition and replacing them when necessary.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve minor issues or deviations that may occur during the bending process, such as material inconsistencies or machine malfunctions.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while operating the press brake machine, ensuring compliance with company and industry safety regulations.
  • Production Monitoring: Monitor the bending process to maintain a steady workflow and promptly address any deviations or inefficiencies.
  • Documentation: Accurately record production data in Epicor, machine settings, and maintenance activities to maintain production records and assist in process improvement efforts. This also includes daily production reports, tally sheets, scrap reports, etc.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other team members, including supervisors, engineers, and quality control personnel, to ensure smooth production flow and meet production targets.
  • Read, comprehend, and execute processes and procedures according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) which are necessary to properly operate the equipment and manufacture the product.
  • Read and interpret Solidworks engineering drawings as needed for accurate and safe brake operation.
  • Maintain and operate hand tools necessary to set-up, take apart and to operate the equipment.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to improve bending processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance overall efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma
  • 2 years’ experience in machine operation or mechanical ability and aptitude to understand how manufacturing equipment works together in a line to produce high quality products.
  • 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment or have general knowledge of metalworking, bending and tooling.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend plant directives written in English.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical secondary education is preferred.
  • Previous Brake Press Operation is preferred.
  • Perform simple mathematics to comprehend and interpret process sheets, SOP manuals, tally sheets, etc. and to keep accurate account of materials used during manufacturing process including scrap amounts.
  • Frequent lifting, standing, bending & reaching required
  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test
  • Must adhere to all the PPE requirements to perform the job safely, this includes but is not limited to, Eye, Hand, Feet, and Hearing protection
