Buyer/Planner - Purchasing Agent

Summary/Objective:
The buyer/planner is responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company's needs for direct/indirect materials, tooling and services. These products and services are to be secured at cost, quality, and delivery competitive levels consistent with company policy and performance standards. The position is further responsible for the timely planning and scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products and services as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and change orders for parts and/or special tools in accordance with customer ERP requirements and planning levels
  • Secure and analyze quotations with suppliers, and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities
  • Review backlog and past due reports and take required action on shortages, ensuring timely communication of status to other departments
  • Track delivery dates to contract dates
  • Track UPS/Fed-Ex inbound daily shipments
  • Resolve debits, MRB and Accounting issues as quickly as possible to meet parts requirements
  • Conduct blanket reviews, as required
  • Manage all material rejection using SCAR process, follow-up and internal communication on corrective actions with suppliers
  • Make recommendations, and implement change to reduce cost and waste
  • Special projects and assignments as business dictates
  • Experience in working with international suppliers a plus
  • Organize and implement strategies to accomplish small business and disadvantaged business sourcing programs consistent with company guidelines Competencies
