JOB SUMMARY


The overall responsibility of the data and analytics manager is to manage the development of Orion’s reporting and business intelligence BI (Insights) team to continuously deliver high-quality products that delight staff, clients, and customers.  


This position will support and manage the development team toward high performance by empowering them to use the Agile methods, thus enabling quality delivery while focusing on the team’s continuous improvement. This position will oversee the development of staff, customer, and client-facing products delivered through SQL, Snowflake, and Power BI. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of ability in leading data, reporting, and analytics development teams to produce high-quality products.  


Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, this candidate will evaluate incoming features and change requests, bugs, questions, and work with the development team to build and support high-quality digital data experiences. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Oversee Orion’s Business Intelligence team by: 

  • Build analytical capabilities to drive key decision-making for Orion and its clients. 
  • Acts as product manager for all analytics and reporting products.  
  • Handle requirements backlog and roadmap for data, reporting, and analytics products. 
  • Manage cross-functional team to ensure on-time delivery, and communicate effectively with sponsors, stakeholders, and project team. 
  • Guides development team on how to use Agile or Kanban practices and values to delight customers. 
  • Gather requirements from customers, prospects, engineers, sales, and designers to specify use cases for current and future products and architecture. 
  • Work with engineering and operations on platform projects, guide and quantify the choices of tools. 
  • Communicate and evangelize our data products both internally and externally. 
  • Create user stories, address issues and bugs, plan sprints/work, & distribute tasks across development teams. 
  • Utilizes project management and/or product delivery schedules for transparent communication of deliverables. 
  • Manages development teams including hiring, coaching, and development. 
  • Maintains incoming requests, tickets, and questions and prioritizes development for multiple products. 
  • Aiding with internal and external communication, improving transparency of product delivery. 



DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration or information technology.
  • 4+ years of agile delivery experience using Scrum, Kanban or SAFe frameworks.
  • Strong familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting.  
  • Experience with data management, Snowflake, Power BI and or other analytic tools preferred.  
  • Agile certifications to include: CSM, CSP, PMI’s ACP, SAFe, PMP or Lean Six Sigma.
  • 4+ years of experience using Jira or equivalent development management tool. 


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • At least 5-8 years of experience with data analytics development, and business intelligence, preferably in the finance or banking industry.  
  • At least 3 years of Technology Project Delivery experience.
