Direct Support Professional -- Community Based

This position will require all candidates to have reliable transportation, be willing to utilize their vehicle for community outings, and have appropriate insurance coverage on their vehicle. This position also requires candidates to have a clean driving record.

Essential Job Duties:

• An IHCS direct support professional is responsible for our individuals' daily care, training, and supervision. These duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assist clients with self-care skills (i.e., hygiene, bathroom, feeding).
  • Intensive supervision of clients, providing 1:1 services/supports to individuals.
  • Create and execute activities (i.e., art, crafts, cooking lessons).
  • Transport individuals to medical appointments, personal shopping, and recreational activities.
  • Socialization with clients.
  • Supervise community outings.
  • Collaboration with other community-based team members.
• Help all individuals in and out of vehicles throughout the session in the community.
• Assist individuals with making sure they have everything needed for the outing that day.
• Check individual backpacks for specific notes or spending money.
• Assist individuals with bathroom needs.
• Assist individuals with daily activities (i.e., chores, hygiene, games, any need in the community)
• Ensure you are constantly supervising the individual assigned to you.
  • 1:1 staff should always be near their client
• Have a complete understating of each consumer and their needs.
  • Read ISP for each consumer.
• Provide a fun and engaging experience for individuals and staff
• Plan and execute activities as planned.
• Accurately complete all documentation and reports of individuals (progress notes, mileage logs) and hand them in promptly/when due.
• Building relationships with families and consumers
• Complete 24 hours of required annual training.
• Be a team player- offer help to other staff where help is needed
• Communicate!

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to push/pull/lift to 50 pounds.
