Title: Bus Driver/Maintenance Specialist
Department/Location: Club
Reports to: Executive Club Director
Exempt/Non-Exempt: Full Time
Primary Function:
The Bus Driver/Maintenance Specialist operates BGCPBC vehicles as a regular part of their daily assignment. This position also performs minor repairs and maintenance work for the club, and does related duties as required. This is someone who also enjoys interacting with children and understands their needs. They should have the following skills: good communication, well organized, patience, dependable, punctual and flexible.
Key Roles (Essential Responsibilities):
Bus Driver
· Address complaints in a polite and professional manner.
· Stays on schedule with designated school drop-offs and pick-ups.
· Account for all members and record no-shows.
· Inform leadership of possible delays.
· Perform basic vehicle maintenance (check tires, lights, oil, etc.).
· Ensure bus is gassed up and fluid levels are in range.
· Obeys all traffic laws and transportation practices as outlined in the CDL and Operations Manual.
· Keep all assigned buses and vans clean.
· Conduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicles daily.
· Maintains an assigned seating chart for members.
· Reports all safety violations.
· Maintains order and properly disciplines student passengers according to club policy.
· Reports needed mechanical repairs to the CCOO and ED when necessary.
· Performs periodical safety drills with members.
· Completes periodic mileage reports, passenger counts and others as required.
Maintenance Specialist
· Inspect building and equipment and report any issues to Executive CD and CCOO.
· Ensure basic repair of any faulty equipment.
· Complete preventative maintenance.
· Responsible for basic plumbing.
· Responsible for painting, general repairs, pressure cleaning, strip and waxing of floors.
· Survey buildings and assist the general maintenance team with the mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards.
· Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair rooms as needed, etc.).
· Inspect all alarm systems (fire, protection) and coordinate repairs when needed.
· Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, etc.).
· Ensure Clubs are free from bugs, rodents, etc.
· Conduct general upkeep procedures (i.e. landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, plumbing).
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· CDL (commercial driver’s license).
· Basic first aid and CPR certification or must acquire such prior to being hired.
· An excellent driving record in compliance with the organization’s standards.
· Excellent driving skills.
· Must successfully complete the bus driver training course.
