Job Summary:

As a Junior Design Engineer, you will collaborate closely with a Senior Designer to produce work of the highest quality. In this role, your mechanical knowledge and meticulous attention to detail will be crucial. Your primary objective will be to develop impactful designs that effectively represent and promote our company's vision. This position will include designing parts and tooling for Injection molding, blow molding and thermoforming systems. Producing detailed 3-dimensional models and detailed drawings, assisting in tender proposal submissions, and documentation for product compliance.

Duties/Responsibilities

The Junior Design Engineer role is ideal for a candidate wishing to work in a design capacity within a highly innovative company. The role will allow the candidate to learn through hands-on work across a broad range of parts, systems, and disciplines combined with regular mentoring from Senior staff within the team. The candidate will be encouraged to take a higher level of ownership over the design of parts and assemblies early on in their career. This candidate must be able to identify complex design problems, conduct root-cause failure analyses, and anticipate production issues. They must also design solutions, evaluate options, conduct tests, and implement solutions to meet timing, product cost, and reliability targets.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Understand project requirements and concepts.
  • Use various design techniques to create drafts, models, and prototypes.
  • Produce final design solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members to launch projects.
  • Take on special design tasks as assigned.
  • Use feedback from Senior Designer to improve skillset.

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.


Education and Experience:

At least two years of related experience is required.

Formal education in engineering or a relevant scientific discipline.

A keen interest in technical subjects and disciplines

A strong desire to learn new skills.

A demonstrable self-motivated application of one's technical interests, technical hobbies, and side projects.

A basic technical understanding of core mechanical engineering principles, including:

  • Manufacturing and processing methods
  • Mechanisms and machines
  • Dynamics; forces, energy & power

A basic understanding of interpreting 2d technical drawing skills, and a thorough understanding of GD&T principles to produce drawings following BS8888, and the ISO GPS framework.

Exposure to use of 3d CAD tools

Competent with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Indicate if required to work weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job.

Travel requirements. 10 % of time
