Job Description
The Benco Fleet Maintenance Lead is responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routines for self and others. Responsible for carrying out the companies' fleet maintenance program, and repair of company assets to reduce downtime and increase cost efficiency.
JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for the repair and maintenance of company assets by directing, assigning projects, and monitoring contract mechanics.
- Work in unison with shops, internal mechanics, and field personnel to direct, schedule, and oversee repairs in order of importance.
- Communicate with vendors, shops, and OEMs to define component failure, find solutions, and issue resolutions to repair units and minimize downtime.
- Responsible for the administration and working knowledge of maintenance programs both preventative and regular and third-party systems.
- Accessible and serves as main Point of Contact (POC) for service shop and maintenance program repair approvals and authorizations.
- Uses analytical skills and data to make cost effective decisions as it pertains to equipment repair and replacement.
- Manages tire program and replacement recommendations using knowledge of products, performance, and job conditions.
- Communicates, tracks, and utilizes warranties and recall procedures on Fleet assets.
- Coordinate and maintain relationships with contract mechanic personnel.
- Educates self on issues, changes, and updates with modern equipment, and provides applicable resources and communication to MDUR Fleet Managers and fleet decision makers.
- Oversees and tracks downtime when units are being repaired and works with MDUR Fleet Management to provide backup equipment, if needed.
- Track, coordinate, and ensure timely completion of annual Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) inspections.
- Responsible for the maintenance of Pool Cars and provides assistance and recommendations to subsidiary companies needing similar support.
- Manage and track parts, fluids, and company-provided tool inventories.
- Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a working knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance at a level normally acquired through the completion of a 2-year associate degree in automotive technology or related field or equivalent: and
- Five years' experience in repair and maintenance and/or fleet maintenance roles with demonstrated progressive level of responsibility to include administrative functions.
- Basic computer skills
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
