The Opportunity
CRST is evolving its maintenance organization to better support the growth and complexity of Dedicated Solutions. As Director - Fleet Maintenance, you'll lead maintenance operations across multiple fleets and maintenance functions, driving fleet reliability, cost performance, compliance, and operational execution across a large and diverse operation.
You'll lead maintenance leaders, influence how maintenance strategy is executed across the business, and partner closely with Operations and Equipment Solutions leadership to improve equipment performance and customer service. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on fleet performance, operational efficiency, and customer experience across one of CRST's largest business segments.
How You'll Work
  • Location: Cedar Rapids, IA (Onsite)
  • Relocation: Relocation assistance will be provided for qualified candidates.
  • Travel: Travel will be required; the amount of travel will vary.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the Cedar Rapids-based 24/7 Breakdown Team, driving service levels, issue resolution, and support for fleet uptime across the Dedicated Solutions network
  • Lead maintenance operations across multiple fleets, locations, and maintenance functions
  • Drive fleet reliability, equipment uptime, preventive maintenance compliance, and service quality
  • Lead and develop maintenance leaders while building accountability and operational excellence across the organization
  • Execute maintenance strategy and align maintenance activities with customer commitments and business objectives
  • Own maintenance cost performance, budgets, vendor relationships, and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Review and approve significant repair decisions and escalated equipment issues
  • Lead maintenance support functions and operational programs supporting fleet performance
  • Establish and reinforce maintenance standards, processes, and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and company safety requirements
  • Partner with Operations and Equipment Solutions leadership to improve fleet performance and customer service
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, leadership development, and recruiting efforts
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs, compliance, and financial results to drive continuous improvement

What You Bring
  • 10+ years of progressive fleet maintenance leadership experience, including experience leading maintenance managers, maintenance leaders, or multi-location maintenance operations
  • Demonstrated experience leading leaders and managing multiple maintenance functions or business units
  • Strong knowledge of Class-8 maintenance operations, preventive maintenance programs, equipment reliability practices, repair cost management, and maintenance planning
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets, vendor relationships, and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and EPA requirements applicable to fleet maintenance operations
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into operational execution across multiple teams and locations
  • Ability to partner effectively with executive leadership, operations teams, vendors, customers, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Going the Extra Mile
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience leading maintenance operations within transportation, trucking, fleet, or logistics environments
  • Experience overseeing multiple maintenance locations, fleets, or business units
  • Experience supporting breakdown operations, parts management, tire programs, warranty administration, or related maintenance functions
  • Experience with fleet maintenance management systems and analytics platforms, including Cetaris or similar tools
