Technical Manager

The successful candidate for the Technical Manager role will report to the Site Manager and will be responsible for but not limited to production of quality products through formula management, for the scale-up, downloading, maintenance of the Azusa, CA site’s formulations, including technical training, and technical support. Customer Interactions to provide technical assistance in regard to our products.

Primary Accountabilities/Functions:

• Supervise laboratory operations to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Oversee training of new and current laboratory personnel in laboratory procedures and protocols
• Ensure that all quality control procedures and documentation are in compliance and up to date with ISO 9001 guidelines.
• Responsible for ensuring all products are produced in accordance with national formulas and within specifications.
• Responsible for all formula management. This includes a review of existing formulas and converting new products to plant processes.
• Responsible for managing non-conformance production and developing plans for disposition.
• Responsible for quality incident investigation on all non-conformance production
• Responsible for ensuring full compliance with ISO certification.
• Responsible for employee relations and development
• Participate in Cycle Time Reduction and Inventory reduction.
• Responsible for expense cost control and budget planning and ensuring cost control and management for the Quality Department
• Participate in interface with senior management, process engineering, and others concerning the initiating and planning of capital expenditures
• Responsible for and maintaining workplace safety, ensuring that training is being performed, and in a manner to achieve goals intended, including process-specific training for all personnel on their shift
• Share responsibility for providing corporate communications to the Azusa employees. Including computer access and usage
• Maintains a positive workforce relationship.
• Responsible for the application of a fair and consistent Corrective Action Policy
• Work towards a commonality of process techniques between shifts/individuals relative to the production of quality products.
• General plant management participation with groups and in meetings
• Other duties as assigned by the Site Manager

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Polymer or Process Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred.
• Chemistry and Polyester process knowledge, solid math, and experience in manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ISO 9000 principles and Process Safety Management Requirements.
• Competency in using SAP, and SharePoint, and good computer and software skills.
• Skilled in communication, problem-solving, prioritizing, leadership.
