United Way for Greater Austin is a regional organization, and this role may be responsible for supporting our regional projects and initiatives.


Who we want:


United Way for Greater Austin is seeking a Human Capital Generalist with an exceptional customer service attitude! In this position, you will serve the United Way family through payroll processing, reporting and compensation analytics, benefits administration, regulatory compliance reporting, and onboarding. You may also support some generalist services, including supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and learning and development work, and maintaining HR metrics.

What you’ll do:


Recruiting:

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and job requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective recruiting strategies to attract qualified candidates.
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and making job offers.
  • Conduct reference and background checks as needed.
  • Onboard new employees, facilitating a smooth transition into the company.

Training and Development:

  • Identify training and development needs within the organization through assessments and feedback.
  • Design and implement training programs, both in-person and online, to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of training initiatives and adjust programs as necessary.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees seeking professional development opportunities.
  • Manage the company's Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure its continued functionality.

Payroll Backup:

  • Serve as a backup resource for payroll processing, including timesheet verification, data entry, and processing paychecks.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll transactions, adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assist employees with payroll-related inquiries and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to reconcile payroll data.

HR Administration:

  • Maintain and update HR records and files, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Provide general HR support to employees on various HR-related inquiries.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed about HR industry trends and best practices to continually improve HR processes.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or 3+ years of HR Generalist work experience.
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, training and development, and payroll administration.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, employment laws, and regulations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, LMS and payroll software.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

This position is located in Austin, Texas, and reports directly to the Chief People Officer.
