About the Job:

Peak Energy is looking for an experienced and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in battery manufacturing and fixture design. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and developing fixtures, tooling, and equipment to optimize battery production processes and ensure high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical fixtures, tooling, and equipment to support battery manufacturing processes, including assembly, testing, and quality control.
  • Utilize 3D modeling and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed designs, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts and ensure that fixtures meet the intended purpose.
  • Choose appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for fixtures, taking into account factors such as durability, cost, and safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Process Engineers, Equipment Engineers, and Quality Assurance, to align fixture designs with production needs.
  • Conduct cost analysis and make design decisions that optimize the balance between fixture cost and functionality.
  • Perform tests and validations on fixtures to ensure they meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of fixture designs, specifications, and revisions, and provide documentation to support manufacturing and maintenance processes.
  • Ensure that fixtures and equipment adhere to safety protocols and industry standards, implementing safety measures to protect employees and assets.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in fixture design, identifying opportunities to enhance processes and product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design, particularly fixture and tooling design within battery manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of battery manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Proficiency in parametric 3D modeling within CAD software, (onshape preferred)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to adapt to new technologies and industry trends.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to fixture and equipment design in battery manufacturing.
