Mortgage Operations Manager
- Full-Time
Responsible for the administration of the mortgage loan area and supervision of department employees.
Essential Functions
LEVEL I
- Develop mortgage loan business through calling Realtors, contractors, other institutions, and through member seminars.
- Provide processing, servicing and underwriting skills that conform to the secondary mortgage market: credit and loan guidelines as set forth by the credit union for consumer and mortgage loans.
- Provide expertise and responsibility for the mortgage lending area regarding compliance, regulation, product development, implementation, pricing, funding, portfolio quality and auditing.
- Direct and supervise the day-to-day activities of the mortgage lending staff.
- Provide coaching and training to the mortgage lending staff on an ongoing basis.
- Administer Escrow accounts.
- Review and provide directions for problem and difficult files.
- Foster a teamwork approach with staff and all other related departments.
- Monitor and achieve budgetary goals and objectives.
- Work with Mortgage Loan Officers to resolve problems and concerns of members/realtors arising out of the loan process.
- Develop an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures.
- Develop a working knowledge of Credit Union’s data processing systems.
LEVEL II
- Research, develop and implement new mortgage products as recommended to, and approved by management. Conduct in-depth analysis and investigation into correspondent lending relationships that the credit union enters into regarding mortgage lending.
- Develop, implement, and maintain operational procedures to maximize efficiency and quality of work and to provide consistent service to members.
- Develop, analyze, and complete monthly loan reports.
- Perform audit of loan files to ensure quality and that lending policies are followed.
- Recruit and select quality applicants for vacancies, ensuring that the credit union is adequately staffed with competent employees.
- Evaluate the job performance of staff supervised to ensure quality work and service to the member. Oversee promotions, transfers, terminations, and other changes in status of assigned employees.
- Manage and recommend the purchase of equipment and supplies.
- Perform the duties of compliance officer for the mortgage lending area.
- Develop and update staff training materials to ensure continued quality service.
- Responsible for training and development of mortgage lending staff.

Additional Functions:
- Actively support our “sales and service” culture and demonstrate these skills by obtaining knowledge and the ability to communicate to members the benefits and features of all our products/services.
- Develop a working knowledge of credit union and competitor’s products/services with a continued interest in improving quality services and products for the credit union.
- Complete in-house training based on required classes set up for this position.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner in relationship to all credit union activities both in attitude and appearance.
- Assist in any area as directed by management.
Qualifications:
- College Degree in Business Administration or Finance
- 2-4 years in mortgage lending/operations with 2 years of supervisory skills.
- Mortgage lending experience includes processing, closing, originating, and/or funding mortgage loans in the secondary market.
- Have mature judgment in loan underwriting.
- Working Knowledge of mortgage lending regulations (FHA, VA, NIFA and Conventional)
- Counseling and interviewing experience with mature judgment.
