Job Description

Job Summary:

The Division Manager of Environmental, Matting, and Land Clearing is responsible for scheduling, cost analysis, and all other management activities for concurrent / multiple project scopes. Quality, safety, and efficiency of work performed along with superior customer contact and satisfaction are essential. This position requires leadership, team collaboration, and strong attention to detail, combined with a proven ability to deliver projects on time and at or under budget.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees a crew to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications.
  • Delegates work and assignments to team members based on expertise, work experience, and time constraints.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for 2-5 forepersons which includes scheduling, coordinating, and managing their daily activities.
  • Responsible for project profitability; inspect project sites on a weekly/bi-weekly basis and work with Foreperson to ensure all projects are running smoothly.
  • Will be required to travel frequently (>20%) and often to projects which are in remote locations.
  • Attending pre-bid site walks and assist estimating personnel in generation of bid submissions and associated deliverables.
  • Coordinates with foreperson to determine the most effective labor planning for the project that will help drive labor efficiency to ensure we remain within budget.
  • Responsible for foreperson performance expectations and development.
  • Accountable for accurate daily entry of data (e.g., individual employee time entry, daily project production) across the division, proficient with B2W Track.
  • Consult with client supervisor and Project Manager on plan revisions and change orders; writes up change orders for approval; provides necessary data for accurate billing
  • Develop punch-list for each project and communicate closeout schedule to Project Manager; responsible for resource management to achieve customer-required schedules while reducing / eliminating project overruns.
  • Ensures that projects are completed to requirements and specifications established by constructions drawings, codes, and client expectations; explain quality control standards and supervise their implementation
  • Assist foreperson with the ordering, coordination and on-time delivery of materials and supplies.
  • Responsible for setting up logistics ahead of time in order to meet job schedules.
  • Responsible for knowing and communicating environmental regulations and requirements to all working crews.
  • Accountable for adherence to contract terms for the project.
  • Responsible for movement of internal assets (equipment and mats) and tracking accordingly.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and strong organizations skills.
  • Ability to read and understand environmental maps and P&P drawings
  • Strong analytical ability and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Construction Management or related discipline preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience in environmental, utility (electrical transmission), or civil construction project management / estimating
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Understanding of environmental permitting preferred
