Junior Marketing Coordinator

The Junior Marketing Coordinator position has the opportunity to create excitement and engagement through promotions, events, and 3rd party engagement. The impact of this role goes beyond awareness, and engages the community in fun, meaningful activities that drive website traffic, conversions, and loyalty. To succeed in this role requires substantial cross-departmental collaboration; excellent project management and follow-through skills; ability to develop written content; and experience with assessing if a specific marketing activity has been successful.

Requirements

1. Execute Promotion Campaigns, specifically related to product sales/deals

• Execute campaigns and promos based on key products, initiatives, and cultural events (for example, CyberMonday)
• Develop, maintain and share 6-12 month promo/sales calendar
• Develop campaign briefs to share internally
• End-to-end coordination of promos; this includes, but is not limited to:
  • Finalizing product selection
  • Generate initial messaging/copy for emails, social, pr, blog, print materials, ads, and so forth
  • Collaboration with design team for creative assets
  • Run queries to generate opt-in email lists (and other lists as needed)
  • Coordinate operational efforts (inventory, finance, shipping, website, demand); participate in S&OP demand planning
  • Facilitate approvals from Finance, Data, and leadership, as needed
  • Enter sales information into e-commerce/product platform
  • Serve as team expert on promotional/discount tools and tactics
• Monitor and provide quick-glance reports to communicate campaign, promo, and project effectiveness

2. Events/Conferences (face-to-face and digital)

• Develop plan and calendar for event and conference participation
• Manage event logistics whether we are independently participating or working with partners
• Coordinate and support all aspects of event (virtual and in person)/conference participation - before, during, and post conference
• Develop promotional and marketing collateral to support events/conferences; manage library of materials; coordinate demos as needed
• Provide timely summary of event outcomes

3. Community Building and 3rd-Party Engagement - including influencer outreach and ambassador program

• Grow SparkFuns Ambassador program - develop ongoing and consistent relationships with ambassadors, tuning in to their strengths and how we can support them;
  • Develop quarterly calendar of ambassador activities
  • Send out samples and other supportive materials
  • Coordinate amplification of ambassador content/activities
• Reach out to relevant influencers directly to build a relationships and support their efforts
• Communicate with other 3rd party sources of SparkFun mentions/content - quick thank yous, discount codes, promo materials

4. Other Marketing Communications Responsibilities

• Serve as backup for other marketing team members when they are out
• From time to time, aid in the development, scheduling and monitoring of newsletter and email campaigns
• Develop a deep understanding of SparkFuns audience and the messaging that resonates with them; build knowledge of SparkFun products
• Develop goals/KPIs and reports for promotions, events, and 3rd party engagements

• 1+ years marketing and communications
• 1+ years event management (virtual or in-person)
• Deep knowledge of promotional tactics used across industries
• Obsession with finding the best deals online
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent project management/time management and follow up skills
• Love for working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Ability to own projects end to end - a desire to take lead
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent knowledge of Google Suite
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work successfully in a hybrid environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the SparkFun brand/voice and product set
• Understanding and experience in the embedded electronics or prototyping space
• Experience in retail, advertising, and/or customer services
