JOB SUMMARY:
The Bankruptcy Specialist is responsible for processing, maintaining follow-up, and collecting all accounts in bankruptcy. This individual will be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly follow-up with debtor’s attorneys, creditor’s attorneys, trustees, and Management as to the status of delinquent bankruptcy accounts.
JOB DUTIES:
- Document member bankruptcy filing data into Keystone and Temenos software’s, attend hearings as necessary, and work with debtor’s attorneys, creditor’s attorneys, and trustees with motions for bankruptcies.
- Assist department with member, branch, and outside counsel phone calls.
- Assist in reviewing and reporting the status of delinquent bankruptcy accounts, initiate collection action and utilize the Temenos software to document account status.
- Assist with maintaining and preparing monthly reporting as to the delinquent bankruptcy portfolio.
- Assist with recognition of delinquent bankruptcy accounts utilizing the Temenos software.
- Utilize the Temenos software to send automated correspondence to delinquent bankruptcy as needed.
- Contact members and cosigners as needed with collection efforts while adhering to applicable bankruptcy collection law.
- Assist with monitoring accounts for member and trustee payments.
- Assist with appropriate legal action as directed by the Team Lead.
- Work with the Foreclosure or Repossession departments to recover credit union collateral as needed.
- Stay current on all state and federal laws governing collection practices, bankruptcy law, and NCUA rules and regulations.
- Comply with Founders’ policies and procedures, applicable laws, regulations, and statutes issued by federal agencies such as NCUA and FFIEC, including but not limited to GLB and BSA. Employees have legal and regulatory obligations to respect and protect the privacy of information and its integrity and confidentiality.
- All other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
The Bankruptcy Specialist must have a high school education with a minimum of 1 year experience in collection or bankruptcy. Individual must be self-motivated, have excellent motivation skills, and can work in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment. Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (including but not limited to Word and Excel) is required. Individual must have the ability to proficiently speak with members and outside counsel. Individual must be also be proficient with Keystone, OnBase, and Temenos software’s.

Candidate must be available Monday-Thursday 8:20am-5pm, Friday 8:20am-6pm.
A pre-employment criminal background check, drug screen, consumer credit investigation, and previous employer reference check will be required.
