Job Summary:
Top Tier National Law Firm is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal to join our Miami office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bankruptcy law, with specific experience in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases. As a Bankruptcy Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys in all aspects of bankruptcy proceedings, from case initiation to resolution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex and high-profile bankruptcy matters in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management:
Assist attorneys in managing Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases from inception to conclusion.
Maintain and organize case files, including legal documents, correspondence, and client information.
Calendar and track critical deadlines, court dates, and meetings.
Document Preparation and Review:
Prepare, draft, and file bankruptcy-related documents, including petitions, motions, pleadings, and affidavits.
Conduct legal research to support case strategies and ensure compliance with bankruptcy laws and regulations.
Review and analyze financial statements, schedules, and other relevant documents.
Client Interaction:
Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and documentation.
Assist in preparing clients for meetings, depositions, and hearings.
Provide clients with updates on case progress and respond to inquiries promptly.
Court Filings and Proceedings:
E-file documents with federal and state bankruptcy courts.
Coordinate and schedule hearings, depositions, and meetings.
Attend bankruptcy court proceedings and assist attorneys as needed.
Data Management:
Maintain electronic databases and case management software.
Organize and manage large volumes of financial and legal data.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports and bankruptcy schedules.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with attorneys, other paralegals, and legal support staff to ensure the smooth flow of information and tasks.
Provide support to multiple attorneys on various bankruptcy cases simultaneously.
Research and Analysis:
Conduct legal research on bankruptcy laws, rules, and precedents.
Summarize and analyze complex legal issues for use in case strategy.
Administrative Duties:
Handle administrative tasks such as expense tracking, billing, and timekeeping.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of bankruptcy paralegal experience, with specific experience in Chapter 11 cases highly preferred.
Proficiency in bankruptcy software and case management systems.
Strong knowledge of federal and state bankruptcy laws and procedures.
