Mobile Sprayer/Equipment Operator

Summary:

The Mobile Sprayer/Equipment Operator works under the direction of local Spray Team Coordinator & Farm Supervisor depending on tasks. The primary role of this position is to safely and efficiently operate various types of motorized farm equipment. Equipment ranges from grass mowers up to large over the row sprayers. Must be comfortable mixing and handling pesticides. When there are no spray/equipment operation tasks directed from Spray Team Coordinator, this position needs to be capable and willing to perform manual labor such as, pruning, pulling weeds and other tasks from the direction of Farm Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Operate sprayers, tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops.
• Maintain and clean equipment properly.
• Complete the training protocol on all equipment before operating.
• Maintain equipment cleaning records.
• Timely report of work progress local spray team coordinator and farm supervisor.
• Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment.
• Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities.
• Weeding with handheld equipment (such as a hoe)
• Pruning trees/plants and Suckering trees/plants
• Mix pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides for application to trees or shrubs.
• Apply pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops.
• Fill sprayer tanks with water and chemicals, according to formulas.
• Lift, push, and swing nozzles, hoses, and tubes to direct spray over designated areas.
• Return completed work orders to the pesticide applications coordinator on time.
• Abide by Safety and PPE Guidelines
• Pass Laws and Safety Exam to obtain the apprentice license
• Maintain the apprentice license by attending meetings with recertification credits
