Job Summary:

The role of the transport courier involves close collaboration with the VFC COVID-19 program staff to ensure the effective and efficient transportation of vaccines in the State of Tennessee, aiming to prevent vaccine wastage. As a pharmacy technician / EMT courier, you will oversee the safe transfer of vaccinations from approved sending providers to accepting providers while adhering to CDC storage and handling guidelines. This is a remote position requiring extensive driving within your designated region.

- VPDIP - Vaccine Operations Team Lead

- VPDIP - Vaccine Ordering Manager

- Tennessee Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and Immunization Program (VPDIP) Pharmacist

Requirements:

The ideal candidate for the pharmacy transport courier / field agent role should meet the following minimum requirements:

- Pharmacy Technician certification, EMT certification, CNA, or LPN (essential)

- Current HIPAA training (essential)

- Valid driver's license and clean driving record (essential)

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field

- Proficiency in medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, infection control, and CDC-recommended vaccine shipping and handling guidelines

- Strong problem-solving skills with an innovative mindset

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask

- Effective organizational, administrative, and planning skills

- Capacity to work under pressure and respond efficiently to urgent situations

- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

- Outstanding communication skills and punctuality

- Physical fitness with the capability to lift at least 20 pounds

- Passion for optimizing healthcare efficiency

Expectations:

The transport courier is expected to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Success in this role relies on reliability, professionalism, exceptional routing and directional skills, and a commitment to punctually delivering critical vaccinations and medical items. The transport courier should excel in record-keeping and comfortably handle tight deadlines to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of vaccines and related medical items.

All transport couriers responsible for transporting Moderna, Pfizer, or Johnson & Johnson vaccines must complete CDC's COVID-19 Vaccine Training Modules and be well-versed in CDC shipping and handling guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Receive vaccines and medical items, and comprehend instructions from the transferring healthcare facility

- Ensure secure storage of vaccines and medical items in the delivery vehicle

- Verify documentation for accuracy and credibility

- Plan efficient routes considering traffic and mileage

- Timely collection and delivery of vaccines and medical items between healthcare facilities

- Obtain recipient signatures on delivery receipts and verify designations

- Safeguard the delivery of each item

- Maintain accurate mileage and maintenance records

- Conduct inventory of ancillary medical items for collection or delivery

- Adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times

- Maintain set vaccine delivery schedules and prepare for single-site deliveries

- Ensure vaccines are properly packed for transport according to CDC guidelines

- Monitor and maintain temperature control of portable refrigerators

- Complete necessary logs and documentation for vaccine transportation

- Perform routine checks and maintenance on service vehicle
