Who We Are:
The New Orleans JCC is a state-of-the-art fitness center and pool, a leader in New Orleans early childhood education, a fun-filled summer day camp and so much more. It is a place for adults to take an exercise class, an art class, or dance class. A place for children and teens to experience learning through enrichment classes, sports leagues, family activities, and summer camps. The JCC is built on Jewish values but is welcome to everyone.

The mission of the New Orleans Jewish Community Center is to promote and ensure the well-being of our Jewish community and to instill an understanding of Judaism and its heritage by providing a Center where all can enjoy, learn, experience, and share in quality activities in a Jewish environment.

The role is responsible for working with the Early Childhood Director and in collaboration with the Camp Team to create opportunities that enhance the learning environments during the school year and oversee mini-camps, and summer camp operations for children ages 1 – 5. With a strong emphasis on developing and mentoring staff and ensuring smooth operations, this position will contribute to the ongoing development of the school’s educational philosophy.  They will play an integral role on the camp leadership team by managing budgets, staff, modeling leadership, and representing the JCC internally and externally.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate actively with faculty and staff to advance the school's overarching vision of the child, families as invested collaborators, and educators as experts, as outlined in the Sheva Framework.
  • Support the Director in facilitating training and meetings with staff during the school year.
  • Foster a child-led, project-based learning environment at the JCC, collaborate with teachers, students, and parents, and design opportunities for creative expression and exploration; document children's learning experiences; and contribute to the ongoing development of the school's educational philosophy in order to actively advance curriculum development within the Sheva framework.
  • Curate and maintain Loose Parts Library and seasonal Loose Part pop-ups.
  • Consider and develop strategies to facilitate the school community through special events and celebrations, with the aim of connecting families and classrooms.
  • Provide support to the Director and Administrator in all aspects of outreach, enrollment, intake, and onboarding of new families.
  • Assist the Director in ensuring that all company policies and procedures are adhered to, in addition to all licensing and accreditation requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with the marketing/communications team about ECC and ensure the vision and voice of ECC are represented.
  • Contributes to the management of coverage during camp and school hours and assists with drop-off and pick-up.
  • Manage completion of TS Gold and outside school recommendation forms to ensure prompt completion and returning to said school.  
  • Supports teachers/counselors when addressing behavior and incidents by notifying appropriate parties.
  • Act as an Ambassador - establishing and maintaining critical relationships.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure camps run smoothly.
  • Responsible for overseeing the enrollment processes for lower camps and minicamps in order to achieve financial and enrollment objectives.
  • Work with the Finance Department to ensure additional services are properly billed and accounts remain in good standing.
  • Align a camp timetable with enjoyable and interactive activities, external vendors, and sufficient time for groups to make smooth transitions.
  • Lead and motivate staff by providing guidance and support to ensure the safety and enjoyment of children and staff.
  • Promote a culture and staff retention rate that is centered on seasonal teachers and staff.
  • Responsible for biweekly payroll submission for camps.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree is highly preferred.
  • At least two years working as a coordinator or manager or in a supervisory role is required.
  • Non-profit experience is a plus.
  • Infant/Child CPR & First Aid Certification required or willingness to obtain.
  • Medicine Administration Training required or willingness to obtain.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service and working with the public preferred. 
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, including having the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Possess excellent computer proficiency skills in Google products such as Google Documents, Sheets, and Gmail.
  •  The ideal candidate will work well under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • The ability to work independently and to complete assignments within the parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices will be shown.
