We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our world-class FEA Support and Consulting team! This is a remote position.

The right candidate will become a key member of our technical staff; working and learning in an exciting and engaging technical environment. Success of the Mechanical Engineer will be measured not only by helping SimuTech’s customers to be successful, but also by continued development of your own technical skills by solving challenging problems in a wide variety of industries. Each member of our staff is a FEA expert who also maintains expertise in one or more specialized fields. Many of our engineers hold advanced degrees with extensive experience in the engineering consulting business. We maintain a high level of professionalism in a friendly, cooperative and flexible environment.

Essential Job Functions:

The Mechanical Engineer will use software such as ANSYS Mechanical to provide:

1. Technical Support - Provide Support to end users of ANSYS by e-mail, Teams meeting, phone, or in person.

2. Pre-sales Support - Work with our account managers to determine the customer's software needs, answer customer technical questions during the sales process and provide software demos/presentations on a variety of subjects.

3. Consulting

  • Work with customers to determine their simulation requirements and expectations.
  • Develop quotes/proposals by determining work scopes, costs and schedules.
  • Work with customers to propose alternative design recommendations based on simulation results.
  • Write simulation reports and other technical documents requested by the customer.

4. Technical Training - Teach ANSYS classes at client sites, on-line, and in SimuTech offices across the U.S. and Canada

Essential Hiring Criteria:

  • Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Professional appearance and presentation required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to work well in a group and independently.
  • Excellent English-based communication skills, technical writing and verbal skills required.
  • Documented industry experience with: ANSYS Mechanical (Workbench) or ANSYS Mechanical APDL (formerly called ANSYS classic)
  • Ability to communicate with customers on a technical basis to help drive software and services sales
  • Creativity
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Theoretical background in structural mechanics and numerical methods backed up by real-world, production-level experience
  • Documented experience (as evidenced by industry experience and/or publications in technical journals) in at least one of these areas:
    1. Structural linear and non-linear static implicit analysis methods (non-linear materials including plasticity and hyper-elasticity as well as contact and large strain/large deformation)
    2. Implicit dynamics including linear (modal, harmonic, response spectrum, random vibration) and non-linear (transient) as well as thermal analysis including both steady-state and transient.
    3. Explicit dynamics modeling experience (crash impact, metal forming simulations, etc.) using LS-dyna, Autodyn, or Abaqus Explicit
  • Familiarity with meshing techniques (Workbench Meshing, Mechanical APDL, Hypermesh, or ICEM)
  • Personable attitude with an ability to work well with clients and other staff
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required; master's degree considered a plus

Helpful Qualifications/Non-requirements:

  • ANSYS programming skills, including GUI customization in PyAnsys (Python), MATLAB and ACT
  • Experience in ASME pressure vessel analysis, Sections VIII and III, Design by Analysis methods
  • Hands on experience in Additive Manufacturing (metallic 3D printing), both operation of machines and predictive analysis of part build quality
  • Practical ANSYS experience manipulating and/or modeling complex 3-D assemblies
  • Experience with optimization and DOE methods
  • Concrete and soil modeling experience

Pay Range: $80,000 - $ 118,000 annually, based on relevant experience

We provide world-class ANSYS engineering simulation software as well as support, training, consulting and physical testing services. We are headquartered in Rochester, NY with additional offices in Seattle, Montreal, and Toronto. We also have remote sales and engineering personnel throughout North America. SimuTech Group employs over 140 people with nearly half being engineers; most holding Master's or PhD degrees.
