Sandblaster
JOB DIMENSIONS:
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, sets up and operates sandblasting machine; and performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to:
Assembly Manager
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receives parts;
- Picks up parts with forklift from degreaser;
- Operates sandblaster to sandblast parts;
- Fills washing machine reservoir with water;
- Checks sand levels;
- Controls air pressure;
- Blows parts clean with air gun;
- Sets parts outside sandblast booth;
- Tapes threads using heat resistant tape for thread protection;
- Plugs openings prior to sandblasting surfaces;
- Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
- Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:
Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:
Experience/Training/Education:
Some experience operating sandblasting or related painting equipment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret painting instructions;
- Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with co-workers;
- Ability to operate forklift truck;
- Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
- Knowledge of material specifications and sandblasting methods and techniques; and
- Ability to follow safety regulations and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time;
- Ability to lift, move, and carry materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or less;
- Ability to reach, bend, lean, and stretch in order to sandblast various surfaces; and
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined;
- Reasonable accommodations provided upon request.
Special Requirements:
Appropriate company certification as a forklift operator.
