Job Description

RMH Systems, one of the largest material handling, packaging, robotics, and industrial scale integrators in the Midwest, is currently seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Project Manager. Some travel required, 25%-50%. This position could work out of either Minnesota office, in Eden Prairie, or New Brighton.

We are looking for an outgoing individual with a strong systems background to assist with project development and to maintain and monitor multiple project plans including schedules, work hours, budget, resources, and expenditures to keep projects on track while in different stages of completion. The PM is responsible for being onsite for project installations if need be, to supervise and direct installation teams and coordinate with the customer. This position is the face of RMH to the customer, and their job is to ensure that project execution exceeds expectations and create a great experience for the customer to help lead to long-lasting customer relationships. Projects range from $100K to $10M.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create a team for the project, including engineers, and outside vendors. Review designs for thoroughness, constructability, and achieving project objectives.
  • Act as liaison between customers, vendors, sales, and engineering for the project. Relationship builder with a focus on long-term, lasting customer relationships.
  • Understand the customer’s expectations based on detailed knowledge of the SOW between RMH and the customer.
  • Organize and schedule project meetings with the team weekly, with customers as needed, and with management when necessary.
  • Document and follow up on actions and decisions from the meetings as directed by the salesperson of the project.
  • Organize and guide project order entry and confirmation review to ensure the correct equipment is ordered.
  • Work with Customers to understand potential risks and mitigation plans during the implementation phase of projects, including creative ways to mitigate challenges.
  • Confirm and coordinate equipment lead times, delivery dates, and routing of equipment.
  • Coordinate schedules with customers, subcontractors (Installers, programmers, etc), and internal services like technicians and engineers, providing as much lead time as possible.
  • Assist with SRDs, Change Orders, and SOW as directed by the salesperson of the project.
  • Be able to read CAD/DWG Drawings to help guide contractors and vendors in installing and commissioning assets being installed.
  • Prepare necessary presentation materials for the meetings as directed.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating issues prior to and during installation. Manage the project to ensure proper financial behavior from a profit and cost expectation.
  • Manage project deadlines paying close attention to long lead times, outages, and production shutdowns; and push the team to ensure timelines are met.
  • Ensure documentation is maintained appropriately.
  • Visit the site regularly during installation to monitor for contractor compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
  • Develop preventative maintenance documents for maintenance activities.
  • Provide feedback, advice, project updates, administrative support, and encouragement to team members as needed.

Requirements for the position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering or equivalent field preferred.
  • 3+ years of professional experience is required
  • 2+ years of experience in material handling industry or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of conveyor, racking, storage systems, and Robotics preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with customers, consultants, vendors, sales, and engineers.
  • Ability to travel, up to 25-50% of the time, as needed.
  • Excellent communication, and strong phone skills. Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Hands on mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings to help guide contractors and vendors in installation and commissioning is preferred.
  • Knowledge of installation and maintenance of systems is beneficial.
