Overhead Crane Operator - $16.25/hr - 1st Shift

As a Crane Operator at Steel Technologies, your main responsibility is to operate a crane to lift and move materials, equipment and/or products. Your detail and attentiveness is critical to regular equipment inspection and the ability to detect defects, secure cargo and load material according to customer standards.

How you'll contribute to our company:

1. Follow production information and instructions to locate material
2. Accurately pull proper material from storage for transfer to machine storage area or to equipment as needed
3. Transfer material from machines to scales or to storage area as required
4. Maintain safe storage and handling of all material
5. Perform daily crane inspection and documentation
6. Ensure proper handling procedures to prevent material damage
7. Remove and replace slitter heads, scrap hoppers or anything that requires movement by the crane
8. Load and unload the trucks to support shipping and/or receiving
9. Maintain safe arrangement and organization of storage area including cleaning and housekeeping of the material storage area
10. Train new employees as needed

Here's what is needed to be successful:

• Experience operating an overhead crane
• Knowledge of current crane operation protocol
• Ability to use tape measure, micrometer
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
