TMS International is the leading provider of on-site, industrial steel mill services for steelmakers around the world. At TMS, our people, services, technology and equipment provide invaluable resources that support and enhance our partners' entire manufacturing operations. Our services help lessen steelmakers' environmental impacts and contribute to a cleaner environment.

We are looking for a Crane Operator to join our team in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Pay: $22.95-$27.50 depending on experience

Schedule: Rotating 4 days on 4 days off, dayshift and nightshift

Job Description:

TMS International is seeking experienced Crane Operators for our Tuscaloosa, AL location. Operators will handle scrap metal using cranes equipped with grapple or magnet attachments. This is a physically demanding role in a fast-paced steel mill environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate overhead cranes equipped with magnet attachments to move and sort scrap metal and other materials.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient movement of materials within the mill.
  • Maintain equipment and conduct routine inspections to ensure safe operation.
  • Follow safety protocols and work with a team to ensure compliance with all safety standards.
  • Assist in material loading/unloading processes as needed.
  • Document crane operations and report any malfunctioning equipment to maintenance personnel.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a crane operator or in a similar role within an industrial setting (steel mill experience preferred).
  • Valid crane operator certification (e.g., NCCCO or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to operate overhead cranes safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a high-temperature, noisy, and physically demanding environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in steel mill operations.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
