Job Summary

Mindak Commercial Construction is seeking a skilled Crane Operator to join our commercial framing team. This full-time role is responsible for operating a Potain tower crane with remote-control equipment to safely transport wood materials throughout the construction process.

As a Crane Operator, you will play a crucial part in supporting framing operations while ensuring efficiency, safety, and productivity on every project. When the crane is not in use, you will assist with framing tasks and jobsite cleanup to help keep the project running smoothly.

Major Expectations & Accountabilities
  • Operate a Potain Tower Crane and other heavy equipment of varying sizes used in wood-framing construction.

  • Transport wood framing materials safely and efficiently using remote-control crane systems.

  • Assist with framing tasks and jobsite cleanup during crane downtime.

  • Follow all Mindak and OSHA safety procedures and immediately report hazards or issues to the foreman or superintendent.

  • Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.

  • Keep equipment clean and report defects or repair needs to supervisors.

  • Control jobsite traffic by flagging off operational areas around the crane.

  • Follow all daily operational procedures outlined in training and safety briefings.

What You'll Need to Be Successful
  • Knowledge of construction-related equipment with demonstrated safe and effective use.

  • Ability to make sound decisions and exercise strong independent judgment.

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills (phone, text, and email).

  • Awareness of jobsite safety and commitment to safe operations at all times.

Minimum RequirementsEducation & Experience
  • 2+ years of heavy equipment operation experience preferred

  • Crane certification required (NCCCO preferred; Mindak will pay for certification if you have strong mini-tower crane experience)

Other Requirements
  • Valid U.S. driver's license

  • Familiarity with lumber, building materials, and hardware preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally.

  • Prolonged standing, frequent bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching.

  • Ability to operate manual and powered construction tools safely.

  • Must be able to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, or platforms.

  • Ability to move safely around an active construction site.

Working Environment
  • Work is performed outdoors, often in environments that may be dusty, noisy, or contain typical construction hazards.

  • Must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and on active commercial construction sites.
